Seeking "Little Chef" Classes for My Daughter, 6 Yrs.

My youngest daughter, Kimmie, is 6 years old. Ever since the first day I warmed a bottle for her while she was in my arms, she has loved cooking. She often begs me to help in the kitchen. Her favorite activity at home is when I put out a bunch of ingredients (flour, sugar, honey, etc.) and let her "cook". She loves mixing all the ingredients to see what she gets. Most of the time it's a big mess! Besides the Disney Channel, she loves to watch the "cook channel", she calls it.
Does anyone know of a good summer program which includes cooking classes for her age? It has to be reasonable, because I'm a stay at home mom on a very tight budget.

What can I do next?

Young Chefs Academy offers classes. I've been to one in Carrollwood, but I believe there are other locations in the city. They have a summer camp too.

Hello M.,

How cute and so awesome that your daughter loves to cook. I have taught all my kids to cook. It is a wonderful "mommy" time and they are so proud of themselves when they are done.

If you can't find a class for her, at least look for a kids cookbook. Pampered chef has a great one for kids that my kids used.

Also, what I did with my children was let them pick a meal each week that they were responsible for cooking. Meatloaf is a great one for them to start learning with, its a mashy gooey job they love, and then they can go from there. My kids can do meatloaf, homemade mac and cheese, roast - beef, chicken and pork, and so on.

I hope that you can find a kids cooking class.

I am a Pampered Chef Consultant, as well as a Preschool teacher. I cook with my children at home and every week in my classroom. I started my own PC Buisness b/c they have so many child friendly products. I would love to come to your house and do a mommy and me cooking show. My shows will show you which tools are good for different age groups, and the children actually get to cook with me and each other. At the end of the show your guest will have an opportunity to order any products they like, and you can earn free and discounted items for your kitchen. It is really easy, fun to do and will cost you very little. What a great way to kick off the summer! Secondly, I would love to start a cooking club for children. I have a lot of great ideas. I am a certifited elementary school teacher who is teaching preschool to stay close to my two young children. One of my passions is cooking with children and I have been developing different concepts for almost two years. I am really excited about this opportunity.
