Hi there. I've lived in the Brandon/Riverview area for a couple of years now, off of Bloomingdale Avenue near Kings, and am interested in going to a church on Sundays or on special occassions like Easter, etc. There are so many around here and I don't have a clue where to begin. I'm interested in one that is in English and that has a lot of families that go there and/or programs for children. (I'm looking for a Christian based church) Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

What can I do next?

They are building a new building, just south of big bend, behind Sweetbay, off of 301! It should open in two or three weeks! We really love this church, were not to involved right now, as we just started going, but the kids love it there, the Pastors sermons are phenominal......I even listen to them, LOL........ My kids are 5,3, and 7m......

Hi. There is The Crossing Church off of Lumsden and Bloomingdale. The church is very open and accepting and every service is based upon the Bible itself. There are kids programs that are truly based upon specific ages. The church is very large and may seem to be overwhelming, but everyone is very willing to make you feel at home. The church also has a website so you can see what it's about before going, www.thecrossingonline.org.

Hi T., I am a member of Bell Shoals Baptist on Bell Shoals Rd. I can highly reccommend it. It is large and can seem intimidating but it has so many families and kids programs. We are opening our new building April 27 and there should be alot of activities around that. This Sunday is military appreciation day and there will be a guest speaker. I would happily meet you and introduce you around but I am in TX with my sister who is ill right now. But if you like I can hook you up with someone who would be happy to meet you and show you around. Just email me @ ____@____.com Luck,
P.

Hi T.,

I go to the Tampa Bay Church. We meet at Armwood High School, not too far from you. We are a non-denominational, Bible-based church. We have lots and lots of families. Our approach to establishing great relationships within the church is to meet as a "house church" or small group a few times a month. I go to one off 60 between Mt. Carmel and Valrico road, but there are a few that meet in the Brandon/Riverview/Valrico area. We have several children in our group from 4 month old twins to a 9-year old. My daughter is 3 1/2.

Here's the website: http://tbco.org/ You can find a map to Armwood here. You can also listen to the sermons online and see what you think. In March, we were reading through a book called "American Idols: Worship of the American Dream" that encourages us to examine how things in our everyday life can become idols and come before God. The last few sermons were from topics in that book.

Feel free to ask me any questions, if you'd like. You can call or email (____@____.com or ###-###-####) I'm a 38 year old work-from-home mom, married with a daughter. I hope to have another, my daughter would be 5, probably. I'm intrigued to see how that is working for you since you are in the same situation!

We have been to both St. Andrews Methodist on Bryan and Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals Baptist on Bell Shoals and they are both great churches. Both churches are great but we love Bell Shoals! The worship, pastor and music are awesome and our kids aged 10 and 6 love it too. They have several program times... They've got great kids programs including choir and mission friends (programs that teach kids about missions all over the world) for all ages on Wednesdays and the sunday school for the kids is really great too. Although we haven't yet joined, we are regular attendees when in town and really love it and have brought several friends and friends kids with us on various Sundays. Best wishes in your search. If you're not sure, go to several different churches on different sundays and see what feels right to you and your family. Every person has a different need in worship - some it's the pastor, some it's music, some it's the programs and such... We've moved twice in the last 8 years and that is the way we've best found the church for us. :-) You'll find what's best for you, I'm sure of it. God Bless and Good luck!

Hi T.. This is a bit old, but I thought I'd write you anyways. My family goes to Bay Life Church in Brandon off of Kingsway which is non-denominational. It's amazing! Very laid back. I love our Paster Mark. He's funny and uses props to get his point across. I love the message. In August we will be branching out to a new location at the Riverview High School. Good luck on your search. We are so lucky to have so many great churches to choose from.
God Bless,
J.

Hi T.,

I attend Fishhawk Fellowship Church - you would go south on Bell Shoals and take a left toward Fishhawk - the church is just pass the light at Fishhawk on the left. It is a great Baptist church with alot of families and activities for the children. Their services are at 8:30 and 11:00 with Bible Study at 9:45. I have a six year old and a 14 month old and the classes for both are great. They just recently had a huge event for Easter for the community which was awesome.
Hope you give us a visit:)
