My husband and I found out we were expecting a third child on July 24. None of my family knows yet, on account that we had a misscarriage a year ago. Well, we had an early ultrasound and the heart beat is strong. I have a feeling that this pregnancy will last at least deep down I hope it will last. My first appointment is on Sept 10th, but my mother's birthday is on Sept. 2nd. We are having a reunion with other family on Sept. 5th. I want to tell my mother in a creative way, yet inexpensive on the date of the reunion so that all of the other family knows also.

The neat thing about my due date is that it's April 3rd, the day before Easter. So, Im looking for secular and religous ideas for an Easter basket full of things that may mark the date for the arrival of my third child. We plan to put a copy of the Ultra sound picture at the bottom of the gift. And any other cute ideas to show that I am expecting my third child as well has my mother's sixth grandchild. Thanks for your help in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I gave my mother the birthday gift. She guessed it before opening anything, but I still made her open all of the little gifts. The rest of the family oohed and aahed over the ideas and the fact that we are expecting another child. I did get some tulip bulbs, so that if my mother plants them in the fall, the flowers will come up in the spring around the time the baby comes. Thanks for your responses.

We bought young trees for my parents' mountain property...one in honor of our daughter, one in memory of the baby I miscarried, and one for our (at-the-time-unborn) son. You could do the same with plants, roses, etc. Good luck!

What about a basket with a large plasic egg and one of those chicks that cheep when you hold it. It may be hard to find unless you already have some around your house or try a thrift store. Any other chick would work too. You could also put several eggs in the basket filled with things like a plastic pacifier, a diaper pin, Then carefully roll up the ultrasound picture and put it inside an egg with the announcement. Make sure you arrange then so she wouldn't choose that one first, or label them with a sharpie just to make sure like a scavenger hunt in a basket. Jellybeans are available year round now so scatter a few of those among the easter grass. If you don't save yours from year to year you could use that basket filler stuff from JoAnn Fabrics.

Kind of simple but you could have your kids make something, pin, mouse pad, framed picture that says "Soon to be Grandma of three".

Hi M.,

Congrats on your pregnancy!

You could have the ultrasound picture put on a T-shirt for your Mom, or if the picture is too ''grainy'' for that, you could still make her a T-shirt with a saying on it, or a picture of your husband, son, daughter, and you holding a ''baby'' all wrapped up in a blanket with maybe ''coming April, 2010'' or ''under construction'' written on it. Whatever you chose I'm sure it will be both special and well received!
