Seeking Ideal Stroller for 1 Yr Old (28Lbs)

Hi! I'm a first time mom of a 1 yr old and we've only ever used an umbrella stroller (Quinny Zapp) w/infant seat and without as a non-reclining umbrella (that is compact and light) stoller w/out much of a basket and no cup holder. I don't need anything for an infant seat any longer and am in the market solely for a full-size stroller for my 1 year old to recline and be comfortable in for walks and periodic shopping trips. I do like to take him for strolls through the park w/our mid-size dog. I want a bar grip as opposed to two single handles. Any favorites? I don't want to spend too much; average price range of 200 is ideal.

I would recommend the Baby Jogger City Mini. It retails around $230. If that's too much, look at the Micro, the recline is less and the wheels a bit smaller, but it's around $160.

I just wanted to give another vote for the Graco stroller that's part of the snug ride travel system. It is hands down the best stroller out there for the $, as long as you don't need a jogging stroller. My entire travel system, which includes the stroller, car seat and base was only about $270. So you should be able to purchase the stroller for under $200 certainly.

It reclines fully, has a great treat tray for the little one to snack on the go, has an awesome very adjustable sun shade, and fantastic basket storage underneath. Single bar for you, also cup holders and extra compartment at the top for keys, etc. My son rode in this well past age 2 and would have used it longer but we had to invest in a double. :)

Hi N.,

I would check out the Baby Jogger City series if I were you. They run slightly upward of $200, and accessories are extra (and there's not a huge storage basket) but they handle really well, and have a lot of other great features (awesome canopy, super easy fold, relatively light weight, comfortable push bar, great recline, 5-pt. harness). We just got the City Mini and like it quite a bit.

Best!

I love my city n go. It is great. it reclines completely has a single handle and is a 3 wheel. It is so easy to compact. The only downside is there isn't a ton of storage underneath but I don't think any have great storage.

I love the BOB stroller. It's so easy to push and the children look super comfortable. You can usually find a used one on craigslist.

We love our Phil & Teds. On the pricier side, but a great urban stroller with four recline options. And with the rain shield, I can take my son out on the coldest day and he stays warm and toasty inside. You also have the option to add another seat should you decided to have a second!

I have been using the stroller I got with our travel system for nearly 5 years. My 40 lb 2y/o is still very comfortable in it. Reclines easily, comfortable to push, lots of storage space. Its a Graco and it was spart of the snug ride collection that is named something else by now but appears to be the same thing.
This thing has been on countless walks, zoos, museums, car trip, plane trips. All over Italy and Hawaii. It has never failed me!

I love our baby trend jogging stroller. It is easy to use with one hand. It has a basket for storage. If you have to go "off roading" like through the grass or on sand it ride and pushes nicely. The front wheel also turns or locks to keep strait. It was about $100.00 at Target.

Hi N.~
I have a Graco Metrolite stroller and I LOVE it. My daughter is 2 1/2 and I've been using it with her for a while now. I actually bought mine off of craigslist for $40 and have had no problems at all. It has a grippy type of handle (single), double cup holder for me and a cup holder & snack tray for my daughter.
If you're ok with a used stroller, I'd highly suggest looking on craigslist.org. I've purchased many things from there for a way better price. This stroller was the first baby item purchased, but it was well worth saving the money!
Good luck!
J.
