Seeking Highly Recommended Pediatricians in the Colony/Plano

Hello, I am due in about 6 weeks and am hoping to get some recommendations for pediatricians in our area. We live in The Colony & work in Plano. I'd especially like to know if the ones recommended offer consultations; so far some of the ones I've called in Plano do not. It'd be nice to get to "interview" some of them before picking one. Dr Goebel was recommended by my doctor, anyone know of him?? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I use Dr. Wong for my children. She is in the same practice as Dr. Goebel - Pediactric Specialists of Plano. I have been extremely pleased with the entire staff. The best thing about their practice is that they do not mind seeing each other's patients. (i.e. - my oldest son was sick and couldn't get into Dr. Wong because she was booked, so the staff scheduled us with another physician.) We've ended up seeing all the physicians for one reason or another and I've been happy with all of them. I simply chose Dr. Wong because I relate better with her.

Another positive, we live in The Colony as well and the office is extremely easy to get to. It takes a maximum of 15 minutes to get there (I usually get there within 10 minutes.)

Good luck!

First of all Congratulations! I highly recommend Dr. Guetersloh at Centennial Pediatrics at Centennial Medical Center. He is in Frisco off of Coit and 121. They are wonderful there and the nurses always return your call promptly. The staff and all of the doctors there are so sweet. I can always get in that day if my child is sick. You can call him to schedule an interview. Let him know that A. Thurmond recommended him. Good luck with the search. I know you won't be disappointed with Dr. Guetersloh and the staff at Centennial Pediatrics.

We absolutely love Dr. William Paruolo (Dr. Bill). I think you'll find yourself very much at ease with him, and he won't make you feel small or stupid for asking questions. You always see the doctor (as opposed to a nurse) for all appointments, and you always talk to a doctor after house and on weekends. And, yes, he offers consultations! =)

Hi J.,

I hear you! Through a friend's referral, we found a wonderful pediatrician who we have been using in Frisco, after he gave us an initial interview to get to know him! His name is Dr. Thai Hoang ("Dr Thai") and he is thorough and great with our 2 little ones! He is associated with Plano Presbyterian Hospital, an excellent place to deliver also! We chose Dr. Thai when I was expecting our second child and he has been there from the day she was born on. We have had a couple of hospital scares and he was calm and reassuring. Another thing I like about him is that he is not quick to medicate every illness that comes along, and he will explain all the options for your child first.

If you are interested in scheduling an interview with him, his phone # is ###-###-####. I highly recommend him! If you do call him, PLEASE let them know that I referred you! Good luck!

J.,

I love our Pediatrician, Dr. Cynthia Webb www.padnewsletter.com - she is near Plano Presby. I interviewed several and loved her and the other people in her practice. They do have pre-natal appointments, FYI. Normally at 1p.m. are the times.

Good luck

Dr. Norman Minsky in Plano is absolutely wonderful and does offer complimentary consultations. His wife, Gail, is the staff R.N. and their office staff is friendly, personable and efficient. Calls are answered 24 hours a day and same-day appointments are always available for sick kid visits. My son absolutely loves him! ###-###-####.

Hi!

I also live in The Colony, and I was highly recommended Dr. William Paruolo and his partner Dr. Harry Stellman. They are off of Main street in The Colony, just south of North Colony Blvd. My friend just loved Dr. Paruolo, and her son was having lots of infections, and she was able to get him right in to be treated. She just raved about him and his office.

Here is their info:

Dr. William Paruolo and Dr. Harry Stellman
6053 Main Street
The Colony, Texas (TX)
###-###-####

I never did a consult with him. I'm pretty sure they do though, because I seem to remember my friend saying she interviewed a lot of different doctors.

My daughter was born 10/13/05, and has been treated by Dr. Paruolo and Dr. Stellman from the start. She had a little bit of jaundice at first, and so we had to see them several times the first few weeks.

I was going to be discharged before my baby, and they called me to find out what time I was going to be discharged from Presby Plano. They were going to a conference that day, and were wanting to see if they should come to the hospital first to examine and discharge my daughter, or do it after. When they found out I was going to be discharged that morning, they went ahead and came to the hospital first, even though it might make them late to their conference. They then called me from the road to tell me about the exam and some things I needed to do to treat the jaundice before going to their office the next week. That really stuck out to me and made an impression and I decided right then and there that I would not hesitate to bring my daughter to them for treatments and checkups.

I love their office and their staff! I can tell Dr. Paruolo loves kids because he is so good with my daughter, and smiles at her and talks to her as he examines her out at her checkups. She is having seperation anxiety, but has no problem going to Dr. Paruolo at her appointments.

We've been having insurance issues (I had another ins. from a job when I had her and it was canceled right after her birth, and now have my husband's ins.) and every time my daughter or I have an appt. I have to call the ins. company to remind them we don't have any other ins. or else they deny the claims pending info from us. (It's very frustrating but that's a whole different story!) The business manager has been so great and understanding in helping me get this all sorted out, and isn't upset when claims aren't paid right away. I know they also are willing to do payment plans with patients, as I've seen some patients come in to make payments.

I'm a mom that has lots of questions, and never feel that I'm taking up too much time. They are always asking me if I have any other questions, and do a great job sharing what things to expect as she gets older, things to avoid, etc. It's not just a "walk in, poke at child, walk out" visit.

Dr. Paruolo is more friendly and smily and giggly with the kids, and Dr. Stellman does some, but is a little more reserved. But my daughter was friendly with him too, and I've been happy the two times my daughter has seen him. Dr. Paruolo is a little busier, so it can be harder to get in that day to see him when a kid is sick, but again, I've been extremely happy with both doctors, and am thrilled I don't have to drive her all the way to Plano and fight to find a parking spot when she is sick. It's great to just drive 5 min. down the road, and hardly wait at all to get in.

So that's who I highly recommend. I know that there are a lot of good doctors out there, and you'll find someone that fits your style and schedule! I've had lots of friends try one person at first, and then switch, so don't worry about doing that if you end up not liking who you first go see!

Good luck!

For a first time mom I would recommend Dr Norman Minsky. He is very patient with moms who asked tons of questions, spends lots of time with you and your child and kids LOVE him! I know people who go to Goebel and Katz, great doctors but if you get tired of being rushed and waiting a long time in the waiting room try Dr Minsky.

I use Seth Kaplan in Frisco. He's at the Frisco Medical Center at Legacy and Warren. My son is 8 weeks old and I have had extremely satisfying responses by both him and his partner. My OB recommended him as she has 3 children that see him. He does consultations and he does not charge. I delivered at Plano Presby and my son was jaundice - he was there every day to make sure he was getting better. Good luck.

My 2 sons see Dr. Berkowitz and Dr. Goebel (they are both part of Pediatric Specialists of Plano). My younger son has unfortunately had to see the Dr. quite often in the past year and we have been very pleased with them. My only complaint is that they often run late. As Dr's though I have be very impressed. Even as busy as they usually are they always take the time to explain everything and address your concerns.

Hello, I highly recommend Willowbend Pediatrics in Plano. Dr. Kimberly Mehendale is a great doctor. She is young and has two young children of her own and she is great with my 2 year old daughter. I never have to wait more than 10 minutes to get in and they are quick to call back when you call the nurse's line. The number is ###-###-####.

Good luck and congrats on your new baby!
