my 19th month old woke up this morning with a slight fever and a rash on his belly, back, neck, and a little on his face. The rash is very small red bumbs. What could be the cause of this?

What can I do next?

Well, it could be heat rash, but it also might be foot and mouth disease.........which is nothing major, but you should probably get him checked..............
OR, he could be teething....some kids break out a bit........

Look up chicken pox too to make sure it's not that or measles..........has he been anywhere where he could have been around kids who might have had anything and not know it?

Keep an eye on him and if he is still running a fever and having the rash, I would take him to the doctor on Monday. Good Luck and take care.

Our daughter had a rash and fever as an infant and we thought it might be Fifth's disease. The dr. determined it was actually a reaction to the antibiotic she had been on for a few days due to an ear infection. Check with the doctor to see since it could be from a variety of things.

Sounds a bit like roseola. Did he have a fever prior to the rash breaking out? Usually with roseola there is a fever for a few days prior. Though my friend's son didn't have that happen.
