If you have heard great things about area preschools and or have had a great experience with any, please forward me the name and address. Thank you!

The Academy of Asheville in South Asheville/Arden area is a fantastic preschool. It is located in the Nettlewood Office Park on Hendersonville Rd. The actual address of the school is 104 Peachtree Rd. Kids can go there from ages 2 - 5 and it can be for as many hours as you would like. It is open from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm.

A.,
I too am from Central Florida...Winter Haven in Polk County. I have been here for 5 yrs now and love it! Much nicer than the growing large cities. Preschools in the area: First Methodist of Fletcher has one called Sonshine Preschool...1/2 days only; Trinity of Fairview is also 1/2 day; Arden Presbyterian is also 1/2 day; full day places with very good reps are hard to come by...Biltmore Academy in Skyland/Arden is known to be pretty nice and well maintained and YMCA in Biltmore houses Mtn area daycare in their bldg....I've heard great things about them as well.
Good Luck!

I no longer recommend Academy of Asheville. Understaffed. Some staff not so good with children. Director not listening to parents. My child is coming out.

Hi! Welcome to Asheville! I realize that you asked your question months ago but I was wondering if you had found somewhere yet, what you thought, etc. I am very interested in what parents really think of the preschool/daycares. I have to put my son in daycare soon and I want to know EVERYTHING about EVERYWHERE. I read a response that brought up Montessori, & you may have noticed that is my career goal. I am a huge fan of Montessori method. I have also heard good things about Montessori Day School. There is another highly recommended Montessori school called Montessori Learning Center in the west Asheville area. I can also give praise to Biltmore Academy in South Asheville. The staff and the director are nice, and well educated. The facility is clean and is a preschool as opposed to a regular daycare. The children are educated more in my opinion. They are also opening up in another location so they will be taking more kids very soon. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi A.,
I moved back to Asheville in January with my daughter who just turned 5 (I grew up here too - its great to be home). She had been going to a Montessori School in the Atlanta area for two years and we were lucky to find a great one here in Arden. Montessori Country Day is on Airport Road between hwy 25 and I26 (airport exit, formerly exit 9, now exit 40) and soon they will move to a new facility in the same general area. It is small with great teachers. I don't know if you are familiar with the Montessori method, but kids are guided through levels of work that build on one another and they work at their own pace as they master each level. For example, my daughter is a good reader, so she moves quickly in reading, not having to wait for others in a class to catch up, but she moves at a slower pace for math, so she is not rushed and can really grasp a concept before having to move on. She starts public kindergarten in the fall. I believe they were voted #2 pre-school in Asheville on some local list as well. I highly recommend them! Director is Maggie Whitmire, ###-###-####. good luck with your move!
