We have never had to board our 3 year old Pug thanks to family and friends. We are new to the area and we are going to have to board our dog for 3 days and we are looking for a great recommendation of places in or near Downers Grove. She is a loving dog that is spoiled and used to the comforts of home :) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I lived in Westmont for years and I always brought all of my pets to the Downers Grove Animal Hospital. They are on Ogden Ave in Downers Grove. They board dogs and cats. I highly recommend them. All the staff there is wonderful.

I love Belle Aire Kennels. My Riley gets all excited when I ask if he wants to go to "sleep over camp"... so I am figuring he must like it there too!! He is obnoxiously spoiled and I had taken him to another kennel before, but he did not come home as happy. So I researched many places and fell in love with this one.. as did Rye. I used the daycare once a week for about 2 months before we tried sleeping over... he has separation issues (good grief)... after his first over night.. he was ready for more!!

Tell Janelle that B. sent you... :-) !!

The Dog Spot located I believe at 905 Ogden. On Ogden just west of main street. I have a lot of friends who use them for boarding, doggy spas, and grooming. They are great with the dogs.

T.,

I don't like to board our dogs either. Another avenue to explore might be a dog sitter coming to your house, so pup can stay home. Maybe ask the vet if they know someone they recommend, may be somebody on staff does this, or if you trust a groomer, they may do this on the side as well. Also, if you have any pre-teen neighbors that you are comfortable with you could possibly hire them for $5 per visit and ask them to come in 3-5 times per day. I find alot of times it is cheaper than a boarder, the pup gets to stay home and most of the time, they get a whole lot more love and attention being one on one. Good luck!

I am also a pug owner, aren't they the best! There is a doggy daycare on Ogden and Main in DG, I think they board and groom as well as do daycare. Good luck with your search.

Hello T.. I am a veterinary technician at Downers Grove Animal Hospital and Bird Clinic located at 635 Ogden Ave in Downers Grove. We offer boarding at a reasonable rate. The only thing we require is that your dog is up to date on vaccines and a negative stool sample within the past year. You can give us a call at ###-###-#### and you can stop by to check out the facility.

If she gets along well with other dogs and is potty trained, she's welcome to stay at our house. We have a black pug and a cat who thinks she's a dog. We also have a 7 year old and a 17 year old. My husband and I love pugs and would be thrilled to watch her for a few days.

I have a garden and a nice yard for your pug to go potty in. When I work out in the garden I have the pug come out with me.

To see a picture of our pug, go to www.thecasualgardener.com - that's Harry and I on the front page.

Take care,

S.

I used the Belle Aire Kennel in Downers Grove, north of Ogden, between Finley and Main street, last Christmas. They took me back to see the boarding and exercise areas, and explained how they clean multiple times per day. Their rates were comparable to the Petsmart Pet Hotel near Fox Valley Mall, and really impressed me with their service. It's worth checking out to see if you like it. (No other kennel we've used was so thorough about showing their facility). My vet recommended this one, and we were pleased. There are places where you can spend $50 per day with TVs for the dogs, but mine wouldn't know the difference. I hope this helps. L.

I TOTALLY recommned Belle Aire Kennels in Downers Grove! They are amazing. Highly qualified. They'll give you a tour before if you desire, and are amazing with your pets. They are always excited to see our cocker spaniel!!! Let me know if you need their number. Oh, and tell them R. Thompson referred you! :)

We take our very spoiled dogs to the PetsHotel at PetSmart on 59. They give them cots to sleep on with blankets (our dogs are used to sleeping in our bed with us). They also offer daycamp while your dog stays there, where they can socialize and play with the other dogs. Or individual playtime.

We've been pretty happy taking our dogs there and haven't encountered any problems at all. Our dogs are happy to go in and they are happy when we pick them up.
