Seeking Good Pediatrician in the Area

I used to have Kaiser Permanente, which alleviated the entire search necessary for pediatricians to an extent. I now have a different insurance provider and am charged with responsibility of selecting a good pediatrician. Do any of you have a specific recommendation for a pediatrician that has available hours for working parents, has good bedside manners, and has good customer service provided by the front office staff?

What can I do next?

Where are you? ---answer from A.: I'm in Lithonia, but willing to travel to Tucker, Ellenwood, Stockbridge, or Conyers if necessary ----

I like our pediatrician in Stone Mountain-- Northlake Pediatrics. We use Dr. Rosenberg, but I think everyone in the office is probably just as good.

I also had a good experience with Dr. Zaman and Dr. Hutchins in Snellville when we lived there.

I wanted to pass on a web site called MedlinePlus http://medlineplus.gov/ Congress had the National Institutes of Health start this website so that people could have a medical/health questions website that had information that was checked by the NIH, was current, and wasn't biased (ex. a pharmaceurical site pushing their product). I am a librarian and have used this site frequently. You should be able to get good, informative, and current information on your health concerns. On the lefthand side of the homepage, you will see Directories listed. You can search by specialty, zip code, etc. I hope this helps you in your search.
best wishes,
K. Wagner

Hi A.,

I love my pediatrician, and his office is really great:

Dr. Raymond Rosenberg
Northlake Pediatrics
W. Park Place Circle (near Stone Mtn Walmart on 78)
###-###-####

One of the best services they offer is a policy of first come, first serve in the early morning for sick kids w/ no appt needed. You can start arriving at 8 to get on the list, and they start seeing patients at 8:30. I've gotten there by 8:15 and been the first in line several times. It's usually one of the Nurse Practitioners, but I did get to see Dr. Rosenberg a couple of times like that too.

I think Dr. Rosendberg has a great calmness with kids. My son will usually be very quiet and good during his exams with him. He is very thorough, and twice has referred us to specialists....once to a surgeon who repaired my son's hernia when he was about 6 weeks, and again to an opthamologist who was also very good.

I recommend their office wholeheartedly.

Good luck,
K.

We are about to try Rainbow Pediatrics in Decatur. My partner has met her and we go for our first visit next week. The doctor is very quirky, but very nice. The office staff is polite and very helpful. Dr. Hermann does all the callbacks herself. I wi;ll post how it goes...
We were with Dekalb Pediactrics. The doctors are great, all though you rarely see the same person unless you call months in advance. The disadvantage is that the front desk staff is not polite, and sounds irrated that they have to be talking with you. The nurse line is not very helpful, and it can take them hours to get back to you (once I waited 7 hours for a call back, after I had called twice). You have to go through the nurseline to get a sick visit. It's too bad 'cause the doctors are good and nice, but I would not recommend this practice.
