Seeking Good Anti-aging Products from Moms Who Are 40+ - Grand Blanc,MI

I am about three months away from turning 40 and I am just wondering what kind of skin care products the moms out there are using. I haven't found a product that helps with the dark circles under my eyes as well as the fine lines around the eyes. If anyone knows of any good products to try I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

Hi J.! I have tried just about everything out there! I am going to be 45 this year, and like you, I was searching!! 5 years ago,I had met another mom at a park and while our kids were playing, we started talking (us moms are good at that!) our conversation went to skin care. She told me about USANA HEALTH SCIENCES. They are a health and wellness compnay based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. What I have learned in these last 5 years, is that for healthy skin, you need inner and outer nutrition. Fish oil is wonderful for the skin (and your heart!) as well as vitamin C, and E and many others. So taking a high quality nutritional supplement will help you skin (as well as your whole body!) Usana is rated the top nutritional in the U.S. and Canada right now for potency and purity. Many olympic athletes use these because there is a 1 million Dollar guarantee that that won't be tested positive for any unknown substance in these products. Many olypmpic athletes have been banned from the games because of the supplements they were taking. These are the Lexus of all nutritionals!!
You can check out "The Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements" by Lyle McWilliam. Researchers have extensively tested over 1500 nutritionals out there, and USANA is rated the highest. It lists all the nutritionals in the book and what its rating is. Very interesting! USANA also has a skin care line called SENSE' (pronounced saan-say) I've learned also that it only takes about 15 minutes for something to be absorbed into your bloodstream once you put it on your skin! Because Usana is very much concerned about True Health, they have developed a skin care system that has absolutely NO CHEMICAL PRESERVATIVES or PARABENS in them!!!!! Many skin care lines say they are all natural, but they do have preservatives in them! Usana has a patent on there skin care line. There are no added preservatives and yet they have a full 2 year shelf life!! If a product says they have no preservatives, then they need to be refrigerated. Usana is the only skin care line right now that is preservative free with a 2 year shelf life. Many well known skin care products are manufactured in the state of Utah, and Usana, for the 3rd year in a row was awarded the Top Skin Care in the state of Utah. I have been using SENSE for 5 years now, and my skin has never been better! I have always had very oily skin, and it is very balanced today! I also love it that I am not putting any unnecessary chemicals into my body. (They have actually found some of those very chemicals used in skin care in breast cancer tissue! My sister had breast cancer at the age of 35, and we are very cautious of what we put into our bodies and on our skin)!!! WOW!! I have said a lot, but I am so passionate about this and want to spread the word to everyone!! I am SO THANKFUL that I have found this company!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you would like to try a FREE 1 week sample of the skin care, I can send you that in the mail for you to try. You can also take a look at their website if you'd like to read about it. Sorry this was so long! I wish you well!

In Happiness and Health!

I know that you will receive a ton of responses on your request. I would recommend Arbonne. Their anti-aging NutriminC RE9 line is fabulous. It is a Swiss formulated naturally based skin care line which uses state-of-the-art technology. When I started using it, I went to a MOMS group meeting and had 4 people within an hour what was 'different'. My skin looked great. Our eye cream helps with dark circles, fine lines & wrinkles & puffiness. I have been using Arbonne now for almost 10 years and will never use another skin care line. There is a $$$ back guarantee. If you would like to try it, I would be happy to send you samples. I think you will be impressed.

Hi J., I realize this post is a year old, but I'd like to share my experience with the anti-aging products that worked for me as well. I'm in my late 40s and have been through many different anti-aging regimens for quite a while now, finally found something that my skin absolutely LOVES, which is Apriori Beauty Creme Cleanse.

After the very first wash, I noticed such a visible difference in my skin - it was vibrant and even-toned, and so, so soft. There was no tight, dry feeling afterward, either. My family even noticed the difference after just that one wash.

I have continued to use it and couldn't be happier with its performance. My skin looks the best it has in probably 10 years, seriously. I've finally found the anti-aging regimen that really works for me. I should say that I love the product so much that I became a consultant myself, but even if I hadn't made that decision, I would still recommend Apriori Beauty products to anyone looking for good anti-aging skin products, especially women over 40.

You may also be interested in the fact that they're natural products with no harmful chemicals, synthetic dyes or fragrances, animal products, and are dermatologically tested and pH correct for all skin types and ages.

If interested, my blog is www.skincaredirectsales.com, and my company website to purchase products is www.aprioriglow.com. You can even request a free sample if you sign up as a free client on my site. If you're still searching, give Apriori Beauty a try!

Hi J.~

I had the same issues as you do with dark circles and fine lines around my eyes. I tried so many products out there with no results. That is until I found Arbonne! The anti-aging line of products are AMAZING! I am so happy with the results these products have given me. These products were developed in Switzerland and are made with herbs and botanicals. The company has been in business for over 20 years. I use the NutiMinC RE Face 5-step system in addition to the NutriMinC Treatment products. You can learn more by going to www.arbonne.com. If you decide to order, please use my consultant id# 18090631 because if you love the products like I do, there are ways that I can show you how to get great discounts on your products going forward. Hi J., My name is K. and I know just the product for you. I have been using Mary Kay for the last 35 years
now. It is so good for the ego to have folks think that I am so much younger than my (shush) 62 years. Mary Kay always said that a women shouldn"t tell her age, but it is a testamony for the best skin care and color cosmetics for the last 15 years. Have you seen the advertisements on T.V. these last 2 weeks? I use the Time Wise Miracle set
This includes the 3 in 1 cleanser, Age-fighting Moisturizer, and the Day and Night Solution. Mary Kay also
has an eye product called Eye Revitalizer. This product combats environmental exposure to UVA and UVB Rays as well
as deminish under eye puffiness and dark circles under the eye. I love this product.
In fact, I have enjoyed Mary Kay so much, I have become a consultant. This is the best job ever! I treat
gals to a complimentuary facial so they can try before they buy. I would love to let you try this product so
you could see for yourself. Is there any reason why we couldn"t get together for a free facial? Looking forward to hearing from you. K. H.

Hi J.,

I am a holistic esthetician. I do facials and treat skin problems naturally. I have been trained by a woman who makes all her own skincare products using all organic herbs. I was at a loss to find something that worked when I met Elina and was amazed that she fixed my skin and did it naturally. I am now doing for others as she has done for me. I do not have a web site yet but you can visit hers for product information. I am in Battle Creek and she is in Kalamazoo. Any products can be shipped to you. Once you have used these products you will never let store bought "chemicals" touch your skin again.

www.elinaskincare.com

Sincerely,
M. - mom of 2; Samantha 17 and Matthew 11

After sending my response I see all the details everyone gets into on here so I will further explain.
Elina is a cosmetic chemist, educator, herbalist and esthetician. She has also started the association of holistic skincare practitioners. ( Any practitioner dealing with the skin or body who wants to do things without drugs and chemicals which are harmful to the body. )

Her eye cream is amazing for the delicate eye area and neck which are the first two areas to show signs of aging. If you are using this eye revitalizer and still show dark circles you may be lacking vitamin K. Which you can purchase at your organic health food store.

And I can't stress enough: SPF!!!!!!! (Which is in all our products naturally with zinc)

I knew nothing of skincare when I met Elina and not only do I now have amazing skin and a product I swear by, I now have a business and a career that I love and can be proud of thanks to Elina. Another key factor besides going all natural is that each time she makes a new batch she changes it slightly. Your skin becomes acclimated to the same formula time after time and builds an immunity to it and stops responding to it's effects. So it's always a different formula when you get a facial or at home products and they continue to work amazingly.

I wish you luck as you have been given a lot of responses but I truly believe you will be amazed and will no longer be in search of the next great thing after you have tried Elina's.

If you have the money, try Botox. It costs about $200 to have the wrinkles around your eyes removed, will last about 4 to 6 months, and takes about 5 minutes to have done. You will love it!! And nobody has to know! I've heard Dr. Silverton in Grand Blanc is good, as well as Fountain of Youth in Hartland.

I am 51 and am often guessed to be in my mid-30's (something to smile about ;-) along with when my daughter and I are together, she is soon to be 26 - people always assume and ask if we are 'Sisters' - needless to say we do have fun with that!

Hi J.
Have you heard of Rodan+Fields dermatology? They are the doctors that created Proactiv Solution (the acne product seen on infomercials). They have new products out to address other skin conditions, including an ANTI AGE line for wrinkles.
I am 41 have two girls 14mos apart (18 mos and 32 mos) and dark circles and eye wrinkles were creeping up fast. I used their Muli Function Eye cream and the circles are gone and the wrinkles diminished. I loved it so much I became a consultant so I could get the discount. The results are 100% satisfaction guarantee, so there is nothing to lose.

hi J.- I have tried lots of eye creams and the only one that produced such amazing results has been the anti-age multi-function eye cream by Rodan and Fields. Their anti-age line won Editors' choice awards from top publications such as Allure, Harper's Bazaar and Lucky. The eye cream eliminated my dark circles as well as the wrinkles around my eyes and morning puffiness (it contains peptides that will stimulate collagen production to make your skin firmer and erase wrinkles). Really wonderful, and they stand behind their products with a 60 day guarantee. I loved it so much I decided to become a consultant. here's my link -www.M..myrandf.com let me know if you have questions.

Avon's Alternative Intensive Eye Cream works really well for the dark circles. This works great on fine lines too. If you have deeper lines, the Clinical Eye Lift might work better for those, but it won't do much for the dark circles.

For fine lines, I would go with pretty much the only proven wrinkle fighter - retin A or the sensitive skin version - renova. They both have to be prescribed by a doctor, but retin a is actually pretty cheap and compares well in price to a lot of higher end stuff at the drugstore. Of course you will pay for a doctor appointment, but if you are getting a skin check at the dermatologist every year or so like people our age do, you can ask then. Your gyn may even prescribe it for you.

A lot depends on your skin type. I have combo oily skin (even at age 49) so I can't use a night creme during the day w/o looking like I buttered my face. I have used Skin Effects eye and day creme and liked it. Be sure to use an spf cream, but my dermatologist said once in the morning isn't enough protection, so if you are exposed you need to reapply. I have red skin, too, so I search for help with that which is limited. Drink a ton of water. It really makes you look better. The dark circles could be allergies.

Hi J.---I'm continually looking for the perfect product also. I'm beginning to think that maybe it doesn't exist and that I should be happy with 'the best I can find'.

I was watching What Not to Wear with my daughter the other day. I was always under the impression that I should use a concealer for those dark circles under the eyes. Their make-up artist said to use a highlighter or brightener to lighten the area. I'm trying that and it does seem to make a difference.

Otherwise, I would also like to suggest that you can do a lot about anti-aging for your skin, and the rest of your bady as well, by the food that you eat every day. Be sure you are concentrating on eating these 4 food groups: fruits, veggies, whole grains and legumes. Use animal products sparingly, mostly as a condiment or as flavoring for soups, stew and casseroles. That way, you will make a HUGE impact on your skin, from the inside out. I would recommend you read the book, “Gorgeous Skin in 30 Days”. It is written by Erica Angyal.

Born in Australia, Erica graduated from the Sydney University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science. She also has a Diploma of Nutrition and is a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. Erica is currently based in Tokyo where she works as a nutritional consultant (including Miss Universe Japan), as a health columnist for lifestyle magazines and regularly presents seminars on preventative health and nutrition.

I am a Wellness educator, being certified by a Naturopath/PhD in nutrition, and I can share a number of articles and resources with you showing how different foods can help support healthy skin. Feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to help.

By the way, my daughter recently introduced me to LUSH products. They have all natural ingredients, many of them food based. You can find them online and they have a store at Sommerset in Troy. It would be worth the trip to explore the store. Their bath products are AMAZING.

Good luck! D. ###-###-####

Youngevity has a new botanical skin care that I've been using and is great! There is no other line that has SOD, superoxide dismutase. Facts about Superoxide Dismutase: a crucial enzyme that provides antioxidant protection to every cell in the body, and is crucial to the repair and formation of healthy skin cells. SOD also provides considerable anti-aging and anti-inflammatory advantages. It immediately neutralizes the free radicals that can lead to wrinkles and pre-cancerous cell changes, protecting the skin from daily environmental insults. Our body produces SOD but the levels drop as we age, and replacing them daily can help tremendously to slow the aging effects of the skin.

An introductory kit lasts a month and costs only $49. You can see the brochure on www.youngevity.com on the left side of the front page. Let me know if you're interested...

I use Kinerase (the eye formula) to fill in the lines, Olay regenerist Night formula as my daytime moisturizer and then somtimes a bit of Bare Escentuals Prime Time to fill in. Since I have bad allergy shiners I haven't found anything that totally takes away circles, but Bare Escentuals Multi-Tasking Bisque reduces them for me. I used to have all kinds of skin issues until I started using Bare Escentuals - most everything has gone away and I look younger than I did at 30.

Hi J.,
Mary Kay makes two products you might want to try. Both from the TimeWise line. One is the Targeted-Action Eye Revitalizer this helps with dark circles and puffiness. They also have an Age-Fighting Eye cream for fine lines and wrinkles. Both great products and MK has a money back guarentee if you don't like their product. I am sure you can go online and find yourself a local rep.
