Seeking Excellent Pediatric Eye Doctor in the NRH/Mid-Cities Area

My 7 y.o. needs glasses before school starts (2 1/2 weeks).
I have taken her to a pediatric eye doctor before and he told me there's nothing wrong with her eyes.
However, as her mother, I had a feeling that just wasn't true.
One time at her regular pediatric visit, I mentioned my concerns to the Dr and she did a quick test and also agreed that she should visit an eye Dr and would most likely need glasses.

Please, please, please refer your best Pediatric Eye Doctor to me for my daughter.

I am in the Mid-Cities area but am willing to drive a little ways for the right Doctor.

Thanks, in advance!

I've been taking my son to Dr. Packwood in NRH. He's a Pediatric Ophthalmologist and runs an office out of Cook's Pediatrics facility on Precinct Line. He also has an office in Arlington but the NRH will probably be closer to you. Good luck!

Hi Susan,

The absolute without a doubt is Dr. Packwood.
He has offices in Hurst and Harris downtown.
His close second is his partner Dr. Norman.

If you have problems finding one in the area you are looking I would suggest FLower Mound eye care. They are not Pediatric only but they have treating my now 14yr old who has horrible eyesight since she was 6. I love them and both the doctors are awesome with kids.

We also use Dr. Alan Norman - but I'm sure that any of the docs in the Pediatric Eye Specialists group would be great - and they do have multiple locations. Please go to an opthomologist and not just an optomitrist - I think that is very important for your child. If their eye problem is not a huge issue, then maybe you can end up with an optomistrist, but I'd get an M.D. (opthomologist) to do the first exam and make sure you are on track.

We take my daughter to Dr Beauchamp in Grapevine. She started having problems when she was three and we have really enjoyed our doctor visits this last year. My daughter actually looks forward to going in. We see Dr George Beauchamp but his daughter is his partner and she is great as well.

I have a 5 YO who just started wearing glasses. I love our pediatric eye dr -- Her name is Dr. Lindsey Bond and she and her husband work at 1st Eye Care in Lake Worth. ###-###-####. My son was really challenged reading the eye chart and she was able to determine his vision through some great equipment they have in the office. Now, our only challenge, keeping the glasses from getting broken. This clinic isn't cheap but the doctor is very, very good with children and parents :) Hope you find someone you really like.

We see Dr. Eric Packwood. He has offices in Fort Worth and Hurst. He was recommended to us by a friend who is a neonatal nurse; she says lots of the premies who go through her hospital see Dr. Packwood. He and his Fort Worth staff are wonderful.
