I have twin boys who will be in 2nd grade next year and a daughter who will be in 6th grade next year. I need tutoring help with the boys in Math and Reading and the same with my daughter. They started a new school this year. We were at a Catholic School last year and now we are in Public School. They are all behind and need help catching up!!! I am willing to take kids where they need to go for help, or if possible have someone come to us. Either way we need help!!!
Please Help, Desperate Mom
Thanks,
J.

Where are you located? My mom is an elementary school teacher and is looking for a way to make a little bit of money this summer. She lives in Oak Point which is not to far from Denton or Little Elm.

My daughter is interested in helping you kids this summer. She is 14 years old and is in the magnet schools here in Garland. She has been on the Math/Science team for the past three years in middle school. By the 4th grade she was reading on a college level. She loves to read so there is a good chance that she will pass her love of reading on to your kids. She helps her brother with his homework regularly. I work so you would need to provide transporation. We are in North Garland. She charges $12 per hour and is available after swim team practice each morning, so after noon each day. Call me if you are interested: ###-###-####. Thanks, L.

You should check into Campbell Christian Academy. They concenrate on the basics. They offer a summer program that is 1 hour a day 2 times a week. My son moved up a grade level after attending last summer. He is 6 (1/7/03) and is working on long multiplication and reading well above a 2nd grade level. They have a website you can check out if you want anymore info. If you have any other questions I love this school and would be happy to tell you more.

My husband and I own an in-home tutoring business. Check us out at www.risingscholars.com, and then give us a call with more questions you may have or if you're ready to get started. Our tutor will come to your home, individualize a plan for your children depending on what they need. We also have a summer program called "Next Step Prep" in which our tutor introduces your child to the new concepts that they will encounter in the upcoming grade. Then as they see it in school, it won't be completely foreign. I hope this helps, and if it is something you're interested in, email or call. Have a great weekend.

I second Kumon. I did it in high school, for math enrichment. I found it helpful in building confidence and learning math on your own.

Hi J.. My parents run Kumon centers in Dallas and our seven year-old son is in the program. It is a highly structured program that was developed decades ago in Japan and teaches the fundamentals that are essential for kids to make progress in math and reading. The kids are tested at the beginning and then it's custom-tailored to the child's abilities. It works for kids who are behind as well as for enrichment. I can't recommend it highly enough. There are centers all over the DFW area: www.kumon.com

Hi!

I'm currently booking my summer tutoring students. I'm a teacher with 15 years experience. I have a Master's degree in education. I have taught in California, Tennessee and now for 5 years in Texas. I have recently begun tutoring after school and am enjoying the one-on-one with students so much! I'm a natural with kids and a born teacher. For what it's worth, I've won teacher of the year and other awards. I also have experience as a live-in nanny. My expertise is with grades 1-5, and I'm certified in grades 1-8. Feel free to contact me and discuss your needs. My email address is ____@____.com. I typically see students at local libraries. My fees are reasonable. I hope to hear from you! Thanks, L.

Hi J.. Just wanted you to know that my son who is 4 goes to Oxford Learning Center at George Bush Tpk and Garland Ave, in the Target shopping complex. The owner's name is Jennifer. My son is in the "Little Readers" program in the morning, but they do tutoring up through high school everday. We have been very happy with the quality and I feel my son is being challenged as a preschooler. I'm assuming that they are great for older kids as well. Best of luck! You are taking great care of your kids!

Check with Sylvan Learning Center (costly) or with a high school principal regarding an honor student that would be willing to tutor your children. Good luck.
