Seeking Dermatologist in North Chicago/Evanston Area

Can anyone recommend a good dermatologist in the north Chicago/Evanston area, specifically a dermatologist specializing in skin cander? This runs in my family, I have a couple of moles that seem somewhat suspicious, and I'd like to get them checked out. My previous dermatologist moved out of state.
Also, I am 33 weeks pregnant. Any thoughts on seeing a doc before the baby arrives, or should I just wait it out a few months? I have read that when you're pregnant you can get funny little bumps and whatnot on your skin, so I don't want to over-react (or under-react.)
I've been on two sunny tropical vacations since being pregnant, so have had more sun than I usually do.

I see Dr. Soleymani with the Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group (www.nmpg.com). I'm very happy with him. I had a couple of moles removed about a year and a half ago and he did fine with them.

FWIW, I had a couple of moles grow and change during pregnancy. I waited until after I had the baby because I had read that changes often happen during pregnancy. Dr. Soleymani looked at them and agreed they were big but that they looked fine. We're going to keep an eye on them. I scheduled my annual visit before I even left the office. It was a relief to finally get them checked out and know they're okay for now. At this point you're close enough to having the baby that I would wait but I would also go ahead and schedule an appt now - make it for about 6-8 weeks after your due date.

I also recommend Dr. Meyer Horn. He used to be with NMPG but left to open his own practice in Wicker Park (http://www.wickerparkderm.com/). He's great! I used to see him at NMPG before he left. If his new location was more convenient for me, I'd still be seeing him.

Dr. Ackerman in Park Ridge is amazing! She is quick, tells you what the problem is, gives you medication that works and solves the problem. I have roscea and sometimes it acts up I get in to see her and she knows what to do to get it cleared up!

In Evanston you can't do better than Dr. Gendelman. He is no nonsense (dare I say brusk?) but gives me complete confidence in his ability to know what is what. Best of luck. ###-###-####

I like Dr. Amy Orsini. She's very friendly and calm, but knows her stuff. I' have lots of moles and freckles and she caught a suspicious-looking one on my thigh which came back pre-cancerous when biopsied. She removed it for me and did a great job. I have total confidence in her. The number to make an appt. is ###-###-####. She's in a practice in Skokie (professional buildings near Old Orchard).

I can't help you with a Dr., mine is on the south side (U of C), but I would go ahead and make the appointment. It might take a while to get an appointment, and I wouldn't put off having someone look at them. Depending on size, shape, etc and what the doc thinks, you might be able to go ahead with removal. I had a cyst drained and then excised when I was post-partum and have had the worst scarring with any surgery I've had. They think it was related to the hormones of being post-partum. So, you might not benefit in any way from waiting and if they are suspicious, the sooner they are off the better :) Also, all of the drugs used for my two surgeries were fine for breastfeeding, in case that's a concern. I checked everything they used with my lactation consultant. So, I'd get them looked at now and let the doc decide if they can wait until delivery. I'd also check in with your OB about what they can use for numbing etc while you're pregnant.

Whatever you do, I DON'T recommend Dr. Lundquist. He is located in the Parkside Building next to Lutheran General. I saw him for a different skin condition and didn't like his manner at all. He looked at me for about 30 seconds, rattled off a diagnosis, wrote me a prescription and rushed out the room before I even had time to react. I had to ask the receptionist for further information about the condition because he didn't explain what it even was. And all he did was prescribe expensive cream after expensive cream and tell me to come back every 2 weeks. I got more information online than I ever did from him. If you're worried, I'd schedule something as soon as possible just to be on the safe side.

Good luck and congrats on your baby coming soon :)

Congradulations to you and welcoming your new bundle of JOY!
You should have them looked at because of family history, however don't panic because during pregnancy everything changes so very much, I had so very many changes with my moles, skin etc.
Good luck
