Hi everyone, I am currently searching for a reputable agency or any information regarding children modeling or commercial acting. My older son just loves to entertain and I've been told repeatedly to get him into something like that. I've never really considered it, but thought it would be good to get some useful information from someone who might be familiar with it.

The top agencies for children are Jet Set Models, Osbrink and LA Models. I see kids from these 3 agencies at every audition and on the call list for booked jobs. My son is with jet set & has booked Ralph Lauren and Children's Place print jobs. Every cent of his earnings go into his college fund.

Some advice - Run away from any agency that asks for any money from you. You should never have to pay for professional headshots since children change so much. Nor should any agent require that your child take acting lessons.

Also, it's a big commitment for not a lot of money if your child actually books a job. In addition, agents expect you to be ready to go to an audition at a moment's notice, so you always have to be "on call". And finally, if your child shows any signs that he/she is not happy or comfortable doing this, listen to him/her and immediately stop.

good luck.

Look into ABRAMS talent agency on sunset BLVD. I am constantly told by everyone to get my 17 month old into the business because of her "doll like features". I have considered it but still have not persued it. I was given this agency information by a coworker who's daughter has been in the business for many years. GOOD LUCK! Maybe after all the referrals I have given I will finally act on it. Thanks for the reminder :) If you hear of any others can you please forward me the information. Thank you in advance.

I have a great management company, Big Dreamer Talent Team. The two main people have been working in the industry for years. Donna’s children are working in several different shows and love it. Misty has been a model for several years. They are both great! One of the main things that I love about them is that they will keep you informed about everything going on and you know that they are working hard for you.

I love having the management agency because they tell me the things that I would not know to do. Plus, they do all of the leg work that I do not have the time for.

You can reach them at ###-###-####.

I hope that helps,
K. Dickerson

From what I hear the Osbrink Agency is the best in the business for kids.

Dear GB - This may not be the answer you want to hear. After a 25+ year career in the television industry, I can only advise you to consider this further. While enrolling your son in local theatre classes/workshops would be a great experience, I'm not sure that the professional route is a good one. It introduces your son to disappointment at a very early age, and even if he is a great success, there is no guarantee that adulthood would bring continued success. I've seen many child actors grow up, only to look back at "the good old days" rather than looking ahead to a successful adult life. Also, shlepping your child from La Mirada to LA many times per week could be very disruptive to your family. I don't mean to be a downer, but I wouldn't do this to my child (as adorable as she is)! I worked in the business, even going as far to get agent numbers, and it just didn't feel right. Let your son be a kid. Get him into plays at the La Mirada theatre and see how he likes it. If he can't live without it, then proceed. In the meantime, let him enjoy his precious childhood! Ultimately, it is your family's decision - and I wish you well. M.
