Seeking Childcare in Lakeland

My husband and I are expecting our first child (girl) in July. We both work and unfortunately cannot afford to quit either one of our jobs. We are looking for childcare that we can trust and feel confident in leaving our little one. Our preference would be an in-home daycare or someone that would come to our house. Does anyone know of any in the Lakeland area? We are also starting to seek out daycare centers. Word of mouth and recommendations are always the best way to go. Could anyone recommend a daycare or if you know a particular one that we should steer clear of? Any advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi J. try the website www.myflorida.com/childcare click on providers and search your area. All of the people on this site are closely monitored by DCF. Good luck, hope it helps. A.

My daughter (18 months) goes to a WONDERFUL in-home daycare. She treats my daughter like her she would her own child and is just wonderful. She's also very reasonable. She's located on the Northside of Lakeland. I live just south of downtown, but still drive past my work to take her there, then back into town to work. Her name is Kandis and her phone number is: ###-###-####. She also watches a 7 month old little boy.

I also recommend Small Wonders. Working with children I get the opportunity to travel through out polk county and i've seen some places that are worse than nightmares. I'm extremely picky... My first choice was little shepherds on Lake Hollingsworth but it is a part time program. Small Wonders has been great so far. I took my daughter when she was 5 months and she is now 14 months and loves it there. The only tiny problem I have is that they let the children watch t.v. but i'll take that over other things i've seen in different day cares. Hope this helps!

Hi J.,

All my children are at Small Wonders(4y old and twins 22 mos),it is a learning center, they take children from 3mos till prek4.
Their waiting list (I think )is not bad for babies, they are located at Lakeland Highlands and Hallam.Go check the facility and get the tour of tha place ,I think you'd like it.
Let me know if any ?
