Seeking Childcare for Our First Child

My husband and I are expecting our first child in April. We are having a hard time locating childcare. I will only be working part-time, but it seems all care centers require you to pay for a full week. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I have nannied for about two years for twins and I am seeking another nanny job since they have now entered preschool. My took care of the twins from birth to 20 months and I have a lot of other short term experience with children from newborn to 7 years old. I am looking for a part-time morning(no later than 4:00pm) job. If you are interested in my services, please email me at ____@____.com. I have references and a resume available. Thank you!

S., The only place that I know of that does any part time infant care is Childtime on Hedgcoxe. They are borderline Plano/Frisco. Great place with older staff. I highly recommend this school. Good luck!

You might try local churches. I live in the Lake Highlands area and the Presbyterian church down here offers part time childcare on a drop-in basis for $35/day. I looked on the internet for churches near Addison and came up with this one that you might try:
First Baptist Church Day Care
###-###-####
13017 William Dodson Pkwy
Farmers Branch, TX 75234
Good luck! I know it is hard to find part-time childcare. I ended up paying full time pay and bringing my son part-time whenever I wanted to. It is expensive but gives us flexibility.

Your best bet would be in-home care or a nanny service. Seems like there's a nanny service in the area called Moms Best Friend. They should have a website. Also, there are childcare locator services that can search centers based on your needs, such as part time. There should be services listed in the phone book. And, depending on the hours you'll be working, lots of local churches offer Mother's Day Out programs 2 or 3 days a week.

While this may be true for the ones you checked out, it is not true for all day cares. The daycare I have used for the past 6 years has always prorated weekly fees for part time care (only on a space available basis). Keep checking around and you might want to refer to the Childcare Group on Stemmons. They will give you referrals for free.

Hi! I'm a SAHM of two girls ages 2 yrs. & almost 4 yrs. I have been looking for a part-time job in babysitting & would love this position.

My girls are very calm hearted. I have a van & a double stroller. So if I ever had to leave the house it wouldn't be a problem. I sometimes babysit a 2 yr. boy & can use his mom as a reference if you'd like one.

Please ask me any questions.
Take care,
~K.

My old homecare offered part-time care, so you might want to check out homecare providers registered with the state.

Hi!
I had the same problem and then I found the Montessory school in Allen have part time programs and my friend in Dallas takes her son to the Montessori in her area that has part time programs as well. You may find one Montessori in Addison too. I love this school.
