Many years ago I used to wait on a group of business owners of different fields that would meet for lunch.Whom ever turn it was for the week would stand up and I would here them talk of their business. Then I noticed they would network.Example marykay would do a before and after with a photographer The photo would also be displayed store front.Does anyone know of this type of organization out there? Now that we are more in on the internet is there such type organization online? Its almost a barter type concept. Exchange service or products.Support and build each other.Find our commons and make them strengths.

I know exactly what you are talking about. One of the most popular is BNI. You can google it. These groups only allow one professional from each business so that you get all the referrals for your profession. What profession are you in? My boss is in a networking group in Uptown and they need several different professionals. email me ____@____.com group is $25 per year, BNI can be pricey. Hope this helps

Hi Patty,

I am part of a networking group of moms. We are going to have an open house this Tuesday and I can invite you. I need to know which business do you have since it's one per industry. This is not an online networking group but we have a website and people refer us as an online referral.
Please visit our website and let me know if you want to attend.

thank you,

D.

Another popular place to research different ones is www.meetup.com . Also, check your area's Chamber of Commerce. Many have a networking breakfast on the whatever weekday of the month. I was a member of several of these things when I first started in the mortgage business. Some good came out of it, but by and large, it was a lot of time committed for not much gain. However, you FEEL pretty busy in the mean-time. I did get some good deals on MK cosmetics for awhile. ;-)

I don't do them anymore now that I'm established.

There are a couple of groups like this. I would suggest you check out Business Blitz. http://businessnetwork.meetup.com/98/
It is very inexpensive and a great opportunity to promote your business as well as network with others. It doesn't cost as much as BNI type groups and doesn't have all the attendance requirements, etc. I have met really quality individuals there.

My husband actually has one of these group you are speaking of--it's the same thing as BNI but without the very high fee. They are actually looking for new members right now and I was almost going to post to see if anyone would be interested. They meet every Wednesday at 11:30 am.
You can reach my husband, Mike, at ###-###-####
