Hello Moms!!! I am in dire need of your help. My son is turning 4 in about 3 weeks and we had the perfect party planned for him...a beach party in Galveston. We went to Galveston to scope out a great location and he was looking forward to it. We decided to scratch that idea as Galveston still has a lot of work to do. I was thinking of having his birthday party at a park but not really sure what kind of activities to plan. HELP PLEASE!!! What are some good places for children's birthday parties? We have already done Pump-it-Up (last year), my kid is afraid of Chuck E. Cheese so forget that...Your ideas and/or guidance are greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

My son's preschool is planning on taking a trip to http://oldmacdonaldshumble.com/. This place looks like a lot of fun for little ones!!
I was just looking on the internet about it the other day and some people had reviewed it and said the had their b day parties there. I guess they have a train to ride and a petting zoo among other activities. Good luck!

We have hosted and gone to several birthday parties at parks and they are lots of fun for the kids. Usually just have a simple game and craft and the rest of the time the kids play until it is time for cake and presents. We have some friends that live in the Spring Branch area and their house is pretty small (they are in the "smaller" part of SB :-)) so they ALWAYS have their kids parties at parks there and my kids always remember those parties.

Check out www.birthdaypartyideas.com for some extra inspiration and easy game ideas...all the ideas are submitted by other parents so there's a wide range of "do-ability"!

What about a (kiddie) "pool" party. If you go west to the Beltway, there's a nice facility called Noah's Ark (www.fmhouston.com/quillian/noahs_ark_pool_info.aspx) and a little closer the Jewish Community Center has a new aquatics center (http://jcchouston.org/index.php?submenu=Aquatics&src=.... Both facilities would allow for plenty of fun and splashing! Good luck.
PS Bellaire also has a pool, but they have a deadline that's past and it's quite a bit more and West U is renovating their facilities.

My son just turned 4 in April and we had his birthday party at Incredible Pizza. it is located on Highway 6 south just two blocks south of Williams Trace Blvd. It is like Chuck E. Chesse, but a lot better. They have a pizza buffet with includes pizza, huge salad bar, pasta, desserts, ice cream and much more. This is all included with the price that you pay at the door. When you are finished eating, they have bumper cars, mini golf, mini bowling and an indoor go cart racing, alsong with the games that give tickets and the children then can redeem them for trinkets. You can call ahead and book a party room or you can have what they call a walk in party. We live in Meyerland area and most of the guests have never been there, so everyone had such a great time. they are still talking about the party. Another idea that you may want to consider is we went to the Children's museum for a birthday party. They also have a party room and the children get to spend time at each activity before moving on as a group. Not sure what the price is. Both places are sure to please and they are indoors so that you do not have to worry if it is going to rain.
Best of luck with your birthday party search!

When my son turned 4, we didn't have a lot of money and planned his party at a Jaycee Park off of 610 & 18th. The park has a big pavillion area with tables already set up and a big playground, and is not very crowded on the weekends. We were able to decorate the pavillion area. The theme was Transformers so we set up a coloring area, and some other storebought games around the pavillion (pin the transormer head on the robot, beanbag toss, etc). The kids played on the playground and did all the games. After that we brought out a huge bin of water balloons, and that was the biggest hit. By the time they got done with those the party was over. My son is now 8, and he's had birthday parties at various locations (chuck e. cheese, go-karts, pump it up, etc) since then, but still remembers the water balloons as his most favorite activity ever. Make it simple and be creative, and it will be a hit.

When our son turned 4 we had a bug scavenger hunt at the Carl Jung Park on Stella Link near S. Braeswood. It is a great park with Pavillon and trees. We bought plastic bugs from the toy store and scattered them around in a certain area and then sent them on their journey. The cake had a bug theme and the party favors were bug pop up tents.

They loved it and it was easy and affordable.

Good luck!

Hi, I've been trying to find a pavillion for a last minute Graduation Party and have had no luck with it being so close to summer the spots are reserved. If you run out of options and have to resort to having it at home-try the Movie night. Throw on his favorite movie, have a red carpet entry, movie themed foods, make the living room filled with pillows or if you have a projector throw out a white sheet and have it in the backyard. I seen on familyfun.com lots of games and other ideas for a movie night or whatever theme you like. They have lots of ideas to come up with from bugs to cowboys or pirates. Good luck!!
