Seeking Area Day Spa Recommendations

I want to treat my mother-in-law as a Christmas gift to a day spa with lunch. Something unique and quaint, not "downtown fancy". Maybe in an area with cute shops...
Being new to the area I don't know where these unique places might be. Suggestions welcome! Am thinking we'd have a massage, pedicure and nice lunch followed by some window shopping.

What can I do next?

Hi,

I don't know if you were just thinking like a mani/pedi but there are some really inexpensive places in NW Portland that I have been to right off of 23rd. Here is one that I have been too:

There is a really great Day Spa in Downtown Kent at Kent Station. I can't remember the name but if you google Kent Station it should come up. Kent Station has some great shops as well as wonderful places to eat. My favorite is Zephyrs.
Have a great relaxing day!

Zenana Spa and Wellness Center(located on SE Clinton + 17th ish) is fantastic. It specializes in services for moms. I have had wonderful massages there. They do all sorts of great stuff : pedicures, facials and hot stone therapy as well as massages. Its in a great spot also, there's great window shopping and lots of places to eat.

Take the Edmonds/Kingston ferry to quaint Port Gamble. Go to The Salon & Spa on Port Gamble Bay. Fantastic massages and many other services including hair and nails. (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-salon-and-spa-on-gamble-bay-p...) After your massage, go to The Tea Room just two or three businesses down for high tea. The food is fantastic. (http://www.tearoomatportgamble.com). My girlfriends and I did this exact trip last year and it was a perfect Saturday. The ferry ride is relaxing, the massages are top notch, the town is small and historic, and The Tea Room is delicious.

Have fun!

My friend Liked Oasis in downtown Vancouver. I've never tried the spas in Vancouver, but Portland has spa Sasee and Bliss Salon. And a couple times I've been to the Ruby spa at McMinnamins and gone from there to "Dinner and a movie" at the same location.

Good luck with the IVF (treat yourself, too!)

I think its really nice that you want to treat your mother in law like this. I love Zenanna Spa (not sure I spelt it quite right), in SE Portland, somewhere near 21st and Clinton. I'm not sure if this area offers the cute shops u want, but there are plenty of lunch spots around there, aswell as unique thrift stores, food coops, cafes etc.
I like Zennana spa cos it is quiet, serene, low key and easy and they use good products, and they have child care so you know they are thinking about mamas. Come to think of it, that's why I go there, but I think I would go there anyway.

In Eugene, there's a nice new, small spa called Studio Mantra. It's on 5th street behind Doe Donne in the Smith Family Building, across from the Oregon Electric Station. Their number is ###-###-####. I also love Gervais, on the corner of 5th and Lincoln.

Have fun!

Try Bliss Spa in Snoqualmie. Owner's name is Leslie. She is awesome and Snoqualmie is a smaller community. I think you'll love it.

I'd suggest Dragonfly Spa on NW Thurman. It has a wonderfully soothing atmosphere without the downtown "chic" sort of feel. It is also quite close to a wonderful French bakery/cafe on Thurman and of course, shops for browsing all along 23rd, just a few blocks away.
Sounds like a wonderful gift!

If you are on the eastside near Seattle, any of the Sorella Salon & Spas are lovely. The newest in Kirkland would give you the window shopping you wanted as well. I have been a customer at the Redmond location since they opened: beautiful facilities, fabulous products and very good customer service. Also, they are owned by a mother and her three daughters, so are very in keeping with the spirit of this site!

Zenana Spa and Wellness Center is awesome. I see someone else recommended it too: http://www.zenana-spa.com/. It's beautiful and feels like walking into a different world. I love it! And their nail products are the "good-for-you" ones. Enjoy!
