Seeking an Ob/Gyn at Overlook Hospital

My friend is not happy at all with her current provider. She is newly pregnant (only about 5 or 6 weeks) and has suffered a previous miscarriage. This doctor is VERY bad at getting back to her in a timely fashion and making her feel at ease. (i.e. - she has called and left messages for the doctor and it took the dr 3 days to call her back !)

So she's looking for a new ob/gyn based out of Overlook Hospital. She prefers that the dr be a woman - and preferably a smaller practice so she can have more personalized care.

I told her about my provider - whom I love - but she is based out of Morristown Memorial.

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated !!!

I believe Alice Gibbons is based out of Overlook Hospital. Quite a few of my friends had her deliver their children over the years and several had problems similar to your friend's. Congratulations to your friend.

Hi. Congrats to your friend. I highly recommend Dr. Rubino's grp. Dr. Rubino, male, has 2 female OB's working with him, as well as another who is just a GYN. I highly recommend DR. Romero in the grp. They have 2 office - one across the street from ST. Barbabas where they deliver, and one in the Medical Arts Builing at Overlook, where they also deliver. Dr. Romero broke my water at 11AM on a Monday. I delivered at Overlook. Dr. Rubino was on call after hours that day. As Dr. Romero had me plus another one of her primary pts in labor, she switched and had back to back c-sections. Mine was after midnight! An she saw me first thing that same day. She is a very kind and caring OB. She doesn't seem to have much personality(very professional)but she does care, is very super gentle, and explains things so completely. Best wishes to your friend. Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Morristown and Overlook Hospital sister Hospitals? I ask that assuming Ocerlook is one in the same as the hospital in Summit. If so, call the office/insurance so. Most drs work out of both if they are sister hospitals. I know this from a recent experience regarding my son and his cardio. Best of luck if I'm wrong and this is not the case.

Hi J.,

Your friend is very lucky to have a friend advocating for her. I have a recommendation at Overlook, though it is a male, not a female. While I honor your request for a female, I thought I'd throw the name out there, as he is a very unique care provider. I am a doula working with a client under the care of Dr. Abu Alam. I could not be more impressed with his respect and reverence toward my client. He works solo- so my client has seen only him throughout her pregnancy. Should an emergency arise and he can not attend the birth, he has backup docs. He takes a more natural, non-interventionist approach than many OBGYNs, and takes time to ensure that all questions and concerns are addressed in office visits. Should your friend be interested in contacting him, his number is ###-###-####.

Another great resource is www.reatemd.com You can read patient reviews on many local docs.

I wish your friend a wonderful birth experience with whomever she chooses.
