Is there anything on the market that will actually curb your appetite. I cant take any kind of stimulant, give me migraines. I just get bigger and bigger. I walk when I can, not like I should, but I want to eat all the time.

What can I do next?

ADDITION TO WHAT WAS ALREADY POSTED: C., I completely forgot to add the part about several small meals rather than 3 large ones. The other person who posted about this is exactly right. There is something about keeping our insulin level regular that eating several small meals does, and this in turn controls hunger. I snack on nuts, too, usually walnuts. I get the unsalted kind because salt makes me retain fluid. Another thing I like to eat is the Progresso Soup with just 100 calories per serving or the ones that have ZERO weight watcher points. They have more sodium than I would usually eat, but I drink a lot of water when I eat them. They are very filling and good. I have lost a total of 34 pounds over a 5 month period. I attended Weight Watchers and counted points, but I also went by what Bob Green and Dr. Gott recommends and incorporated this into my diet, as far as the whole grains go. If I had pasta on occasion, I used the whole what pasta. I hesitated to mention the WW thing at first because I did not want to look like I was selling Weight Watchers on here. All of what I have mentioned worked for me. You just have to find what is right for you. Being a fad dieter for years and on a weight loss yo-yo, I did finally learn that there is no fast fix and no fad diet. You HAVE to do something you can live with from now on and learn what to eat. Believe it or not, your taste will change. I did not believe this. I thought I would always crave McDonalds XL size fries and a coke, but I don't even want that stuff anymore. Please keep us posted on your success. I say that because I know you are going to be successful. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Talking to others helped me so much. You won't always be perfect. You will eat the wrong thing sometime. And when you do, enjoy it, forget about it, and get right back on that weight loss wagon. Once you reach your goal weight, you can eat what you want as long as you control your portion sizes and don't make a habit of eating junk regularly. I would hate to know I could never ever eat a Snickers Bar again or Ruffles Potato Chips. And I can. I just do it every once in a while and eat just 1 serving. Good Luck!!! (I am a grandmom, too. It is just harder to get off when you get our age, I do believe.)

(Below is previous post from earlier.)

C., I know exactly where you are coming from. I love to eat, too. I have read Bob Green's books (the guy on Oprah) and have read the "No Flour No Sugar" book by Dr. Gott. Both are wonderful and basically are a alot alike. Leave off anything that says "enriched" in the first 5 ingredients and leave off ALL sugar, with the exception of fresh fruits. That means to stay away from breads, chips, tortilla chips, pie crusts, anything made with flour. And if you do eat bread every once in awhile, make sure it is WHOLE WHEAT. Some whole wheat breads will say whole wheat, but look at the ingredients and if it says enriched, DON'T BUY IT!!! The first ingredient must say WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR. Now as far as veggies, eat'em up, as the fruits. Don't eat anything fried. You can go to the BEST LIFE DIET by Bob Green and get tons of info. Just key in BEST LIFE DIET. Not only will you lose weight cutting out the flour and sugar, you will feel so much better and you would not believe the aches and pains that just disappear. I know this works. Try to control your portions and if you must snack, put some grapes in a snack sized baggy---you can even freeze them and they are great snacks. Freeze some cut up bananas. Make a smoothie using fat free or 1% milk and fill it with strawberries, bananas and other fruit, a little crushed ice, some Splenda, and you have a BIG satisfying milk shake. Just read read read suggestions and recipes from the Best Life Diet site. And try to move as much as possible, even if it's marching in place while watching tv. Good luck and keep us posted as to your sucess. p.s. Another great plan that works is Weight Watchers. Stay away from the fad diets. You know you cannot stick to them the rest of your life and once you go off the weight will come back, sometimes more. You need to learn to control portions and to eat healthy. At WW you can attend meetings once a week that will help you, if you are able to do something like this.

I agree with previous advice that you definately should checkout Bob Green, he is also on Rachael Ray and always gives helpful tips. Also a good book that I am getting wind of is The Belly Fat Diet. It teaches you to add fiber to your diet which you can add to yogurt or oatmeal and it will give you a feeling of fullness for a longer time. Also it does help regulate your bowels which is vital for bloatedness. The Belly Fat Diet is actually good food that is teaching you to eat the healthy fats that your body needs. Another thing is to make sure you are drinking plenty of water dt the fact that sometimes you feel hunger pains and in fact you ate one hour before and are actually only thirsty. I can not take diet medications or stimulants dt I have hypertension but I can tell you if this does not help vitamin world sells a lot of herbal things that can help you without risking your health. One last thing I don't know if you like pasta which I LOVE, (I could do Olive Garden daily), you can buy the whole grain pasta and if you salt the water prior to boiling it the pasta absorbs some salt to flavor and is a healthy alternative to wheat. I actually love the taste. I could go on and on because I am a nurse and teach diets for a living but, lastly try six small meals and snacks instead of traditional meals. For example protein for breakfast (egg whites, with whole wheat toast and almond butter spread), yogurt for snack and half apple, then chicken and salad for lunch with small amount of dark chocolate which is very good for you, then have a 100 cal pack of your choice, and for dinner do lean protein and baked potato with brocolli and cheese inside instead of butter and sour cream, and for night snack have something you really enjoy in moderation. Good luck in your request. Hope this can help some.

I have to tell you, the 10-day All-Bran challenge is really helping me a lot! I joined the official Yahoo group for it and really get into the experience-sharing and the recipes!

I'm on day 5 and I have more energy than I know what to do with and don't have nearly as much caffeine intake as I did (bad for me - I'm diabetic). I walk as much as I can or have time for but it's not nearly enough. I have to be more strict with myself about this, for sure, but I have noticed that when I do sit-ups at night (10 a day to start with because I'm seriously out of shape), the soreness doesn't last as long as it normally does.

I drink a lot of water. The formula I'm using is I drink 1/2 my weight in ounces of water. In other words, I'm 201 and I drink 100 oz of water a day. That's appx 3 bottles of the Deer Park 1 L bottle which I simply fill back up from my tap. Sometimes I'll add a crystal light pink lemonade to it for flavor. I don't like flavored waters because of the calories and the taste but crystal light seems to be working for me.

With this 10-day challenge, I'm not as hungry as I was and, if I find myself getting hungry, I grab a small bowl of the cereal and put some fruit in it or sprinkle some over yogurt or a salad. It's a great, quick snack!

Try the challenge for 10 days and watch what you eat. Keep a small journal with you that you can quickly jot down all that you eat in a day - including the tic-tacs and cups of hot tea as well as any snack foods or extra dressing with your salad. List EVERYTHING for 10 days and you'll be absolutely amazed at how much you really are eating that you simply don't HAVE to eat! And you'll see all the wrong things you eat so you can make some valuable changes in your life.

I'm 42 and feel better than I have for a long time since starting this program 5 days ago. I can't wait to see how I'm going to feel in 10 days :)

There is nothing wrong with eating all the time, as long as it is something that won't make you unhealthy and gain weight. I do better with high protein and low carb (no refined carbs). Take fruit...berries, etc., with you where ever you go or take raw almonds and pecans. I love pecans, so that's something that I like to eat a lot. Eating every couple of hours is totally okay! You'll actually find yourself losing weight by doing that instead of waiting until you are too hungry and just grab whatever to eat.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to eat, you just have to do it the right way. Carry cut fruit with you. It is not only very good for you, it aids in digestion, and you wont gain any weight eating it, it will actually help you to lose weight. Cantaloupe, strawberries, oranges, grapes, etc. It will also help to boost your immune system, and give you more energy in case you want to start working out. You cannot go wrong eating fruit, even if you eat it all day.
Good luck

I LOVE food, especially sweets. But I love feeling skinny better than food. I have a sign up on my computer that says " Nothing Tastes as good as skinny feels"
It's helped me a lot to snack less during they day, but when I do I've been eating an apple, or pineapple.Something I know won't hurt me, plus I've been downing a lot of water, and just keep busy. Since last week I've already seen a difference in my clothes. You gotta get to the point where food is off the brain. I feel your pain girl because I love to eat and love food. But I don't like how it makes me feel. Good Luck and stick with it.

Everyone gave really good advice and it doesn't hurt to trail and error but if your anything like me you suck on being nutrional savy.Personally I do better with just eating less and getting myself busy cleaning or w.e needs to be done rather than sitting and watching tv which makes me think of eating.I havent even looked at the scale and I can tell I have lost weight.I think alot of people love to eat, especially something that doesn't taste like grass with dressing. And you also have to know how to prepare portions and the right way to cook it,which I am also not good at.I find that I rebell more when I try to avoid the things I like to eat.So usually I just skip breakfast since my baby takes up that time, I might eat a peanut butter sandwich for lunch and w/e we have for dinner.I dont reccommend my diet lol, it sucks. But I think you know you best. What activity or chore keeps you busy and not thinking of eating?A good book also does the trick for me.Eating 6 meals a day is the ideal way, they say....for not getting hungry, but it is alot of effort to prepare 6 healthy meals or snacks a day without indulging for me. I have a problem with not knowing my limit on sweets especially.I hope you find what works for you.It took me until recently to finally figure out that I'm no health junky and that's fine for me.My problem was how much I consume. And just for me I find keeping busy helps me forget about eating for awhile and before I know it I'm telling myself it's already dinner time and I haven't eating a thing all day.Don't live to eat,eat to live and it doesn't take 6 meals a day to stay alive lol.
