Seeking Affordable Maternity Clothes

Hi ladies,

I was wondering if anyone knew where to purchase affordable maternity clothes suitable for work. I had a lot of clothes from my previous pregnancy most of which I am about to grow out of already and I have 3.5 more months at least before my twins arrive. I usually wear a larger size anyway so everything I am finding in the stores is way too small. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

i found really cute shirts for like $6.99 at Ross. I hate that store because most of them are dirty and unorgnaized but the one on Davis Blvd and north tarrant pkwy in north richland hills is clean and organized. i found lots of cute clothes for myself there. good luck.

R.,

I have some cute maternity clothes. What size do you have? If I have the right size for you, you are more than welcome to have mine.

Renne-
Congrats. What a blessing. I also have twins (almost 8 months) I understand how the clothes thing is. I got so much bigger in that pregnancy than the others. I also have a 6 and 3 year old. I have some clothes if you want them. If they fit and you want them, they are all yours. I also have a listening ear if you need it.

Again, congrats!

I wear plus-size clothes and ran into the same issue. I found some things at Mimi Maternity and I sold some of my stuff to "Kid to Kid", so you might want to check them out. Another thing I did was buy peasant-style blouses in plus-sizes (not maternity wear). You can find these at Target, Walmart, Lane Bryant, Avenue, etc. Also, Lane Bryant now has maternity clothes. Not really "affordable", but you could check out their website for clearance items. Best of luck to you!

You might try some of the children's resale stores like Kid2Kid and Once Upon a Child. Most of them usually have some maternity items, too. (You might call first to see.) I know that some people list maternity clothes on Craigs List in the Baby/Kid section. Also, consignment sales like Divine Consign and Just Between Friends will be in the next month (if you can wait that long) and also have some maternity clothes.

Congratulations on your twins!!! :o)

Many of the local mothers of multiples groups have garage sales in the spring. Some of the members will be selling maternity clothes. You can go to www.tmom.net to find out more about clubs in yor area. I am President of the Mid Cities Mothers of Multiples. We will be having our semi-annual sale at the beginning of April at the Keller Lions Club. If you are interested in joining a Moms of multiples group please let me know. Our website is www.mcmoms.org.
Take care,

Godwill Stores actually have some nice, gently worn maternity clothes at reasonable prices. You have to look, and not all GW stores have that section, but I know the Watagua, Arlington, and HEB store does. Once a month, usually on the 2nd Wednesday, they have 1/2 off day. Good luck, and if you are intersted in doula support, I offer doula services for hire at a very feasible fee.

Love and blessings,

I got some nice stuff when I was pregnant with my twins at Ross! I also went to the JBF Sales...they are great for maternity and baby stuff! They have one coming up in Fort Worth soon! Craigslist also usually has good deals. I sold the majority of my maternity clothes on there and at garage sale. You can search garage sale ads too because they will usually list in their advertisement if they are going to have maternity clothes available. Good luck!

Have you tried Kohl's? Their maternity clothes are fairly inexpensive anways, but sometimes they go on sale Buy One, Get One Free...check their ads! They don't have a huge selection, but do carry the basics like black plants, blouses, etc.

I loved shopping for maternity things on ebay and craigslist. Also, www.freecycle.org seems to always have somebody ready to unload their whole pregnancy wardrobe! One note that I wish I had known--after my son was born I was looking for nursing clothes, and I learned that Japanese Weekend has "During and After" clothes that are great for maternity months and feel and look so great that you want to keep on wearing them. They have nursing openings, so they're perfect for that chapter of life too:) Honestly, they don't look like pregnant OR nursing wear! I found those shirts on ebay for around $18-20, while at the store they would run closer to $70-80. You can find the expensive Japanese Weekend clothes at their store at Willow Bend, I believe, and at the Pickle and Ice Cream store in Fort WOrth. I did buy one JW outfit full price, but it is awesome and has been so worth it--comfortable, can go casual or dressy, good for nursing, etc... Have fun!
