I'm not sure how to word this. SO please bare w/ me.

I found this exclusive job (Service / Assistance Dog Trainer) opening that does NOT come around that often. It's in a sm. town that is in a diff. state (in the next state). It's always been one of my dreams to become a Service / Assistance Dog Trainer. I'm not sure what to do. IF I do end up applying & getting the job. I'd have to move. I'd have to figure out how to tell my family. Plus other stuff too.

Like:
* replate my car
* find a place to live
* reg. my son for school & more

Any advice????

So What Happened?

I decided not to take the job out of state. I don't mean to sound greedy. But there's at least a $10grand or more difference, between the Dog Training position & the M.T. job.

The hardest thing we, as humans, deal with is change. However, if you never take the chance you'll never know if what opportunities could be out there. If you get the job and get out there and after a while decide you just don't like the distance or whatever you can always move back.

You family will (should) support you just because it's you decision and you need to do what's right for you.

As for the things you listed. If you work through a realtor, they can steer you toward the correct contacts. A good realtor has to be knowledgable in communities as far as schools for kids, etc.

If this is your dream job why would you want to let it go. Worst case is it's not you dream job and you move back home. I know that it is hard to move from family but sometimes that's what you need to live your dream. We just moved to ND from the west coast too. We have no family but slowly are making friends. But this was for my husband to live his dream and he has gone back to school. I never thought in a million years that I would love living in ND. But our lives are better. My husband is happier and doing what he has always wanted. And who knows where we will be in five years. We miss family and friend and the Mt's but this is what we needed for us now. It was hard but you only live once. So make the best of it. Make a list. Then talk to your son and see what he think. Maybe he would love to see you happy. Good luck with your choice. Live your life to the fullest. If you don't who will?

That's a tough decision. My husband, son and I recently moved from the West Coast to the Midwest. It's hard being away from family, and I would imagine that as a single mom of a special needs child, it would be even harder. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, I think you should follow your heart. If I was a single mom with a helpful family nearby, I wouldn't move far away....that's just me! Good luck!

I personally think you should apply. If you get it, GREAT! It's where God is going to lead you. If you don't, GREAT! It's where God is going to lead you. I'm a firm believer that God has a hand in everything. If it's meant to be, it will be.
You CANNOT lose a thing by trying for the job. And you never know, if you get it, it could change EVERYTHING for you in such a positive way. And it would be just as good for your son too because it will be in God's will.

God bless you!!

I think that just because you are a mom you shouldn't put your dreams on hold!! If this is something that you have always wanted to do then go for it. This may be the thing that betters your life and your sons. I know that it would be hard to be away from your family and yes it will be a challenge but I really think you should go for it.

I would also talk to your family and let them know what you are doing!! That way it is not a total shock. You can also start to do research so you know what kind of expences you migh be looking at. Good luck I wish you the best!!!

This is a toughie. You have to weigh out the pros and cons, do you want to live close to family, do you want to move your son from a familiar life? On the other end of the spectrum, think about yourself, how long have you wanted this job? Will it be better, financially and emotionally for you and your child? if you have the means and the true desire to do this, go for it if it will better yourself and the life you give to your son.

Will this job better yours and your sons life financially? Is this your dream job? Is this something that if you turned down, you would spend life regretting it? If you answered YES to these questions... GO FOR IT. Follow your dream. It is not that big of a hassle to replate your car, enroll your son in a new school, and find a place to live. Yes, it costs money to do these things, but is it worth it? How far away is it from family? Could you visit on weekends? Or every other? I am just shooting out thoughts right now.... but if you truly want this and it will benifit your life in a posotive way... I say take a chance. Talk to your family. I am sure that they love you enough to see that this is something that you truly have a passion for. And because of that passion, they will hopefully encourage you and not want you to hold yourself back. I wish you great luck and I hope that you make the choice that will make you happy.
