My 10 yr old has asked for a camcorder for Christmas. I'm not sure If I want to get him this for Christmas or not. I was wondering if anyone can recommended a cheap camcorder that is easy to use works really well. I'm not looking for a professional camera just something that he can use around the house to make movies with his friends so having a good microphones is would be a plus and good lighting would be another since he will be using it in doors. Any suggestion would be great full. Thanks M.

I just got the Flip Camera and I love it. It plugs right into a USB port so there are no tapes to buy. I wish I had got it last year instead of my camcorder because it is SO MUCH EASIER to use.

Hi i was just looking and there is an all terain one from little tikes that is made to withstand like dropping and what not. not sure if there are other ones like that out there, even though your child is 10 something like this might be best. i know they make the digital cameras from them also that are shatterproof and waterproof, maybe do some internet searches on kids camcorders or kids video cameras but this one seems good.

M.,

Your husband could ask his co-workers if they have a camcorder they no longer use and would be willing to part with for some sort of payment.

Good luck.

Have you looked on Craigslist (online used stuff) for this??? Ppl upgrade these so often if you are willing to get a used one you might luck out....you may have to check a couple times but I would think you could find it there.

HI M.-

We got our 11 year old an Aiptek Camcorder for 69.99 the day after TGiving at Kmart! I read the reviews and they were mixed. I decided for what we were looking for it would be fine. There is also a Disney Camcorder at Target that got good reviews. Also under $100. Both of these fit in the palm of your hand.

Usually camcorders have a built in microphone. I just got a JVC digital for Mother's day. Love it. Before that I had a Sony camcorder and had to replace it with a slightly different type of camcorder.
My Olympus digital camera also has a filming feature on it. It's only for about 15 seconds.

Hello,
We bought our son an Aiptek video camera for his 13th birthday. This thing takes video, stills, voice recordings and is an MP3 player. I was pleased with it as well as my son. I did notice that now they are selling in HD and it was 130ish at best buy. Ours isn't HD, but it is working just fine for us. One more note, I was going to buy the Iflip video, but it only records....maybe an hour and a half of video, where as the Aiptek uses memory cards in the size of your choosing.
