Seeking a Vbac-friendly Doc

I'm seeking an OBGYN who is VBAC friendly, doesn't push inductions or C-sections, and is comfortable wth older patients (40). A small practice would be nice also, as I would prefer to see only one doctor. I would like to stay in the Littleton area but would travel up to 30 minutes outside LIttleton for a really great doc.

What can I do next?

I LOVED my practice at SkyRidge! They do have 4 doctors but they are all excellent. You could choose to only see one or two if you like. There are 2 male and 2 female docs. Dr. Elise Chu and Dr. Melissa Zart are the females. The name of the practice is RidgeGate OBGYN. They both have had 2 babies of their own in the last 3 years. I was a c-section with my first and they left it totally up to me (if I wanted to try a VBAC with my second)...even though I went 31 hours of labor with my first. I ended up with a secon'd c-section nearly 8 months ago because unfortunately my body isn't made to have vaginal deliveries. :-). Best of luck to you...I hope you will consider that office!! A.

Dear A.,

Congratulations on seeing a VBAC-friendly doctor. If you don't know about the International Cesarean Awareness Network, that should be your first stop. We are a non-profit dedicated to promoting VBACs and educating women about cesarean birth. You do have a chapter in Denver so contact them - they will know the VBAC friendly doctors in your area. I had trouble with their website - but call the chapter leader and find out about providers and also about whether they have local meetings.

The Women's group. They are in in Littleton, right at Littleton Hospital. Dr. Lois McLauchlan. ###-###-####. My first was an emergency c-sec and when I got pregnant with my 2nd my OB was really pushing for a repeat c-section so I switched to the womens group. I had my 2nd and 3rd child as a VBAC and she was 100% behind me trying to deliver my twins VBAC as well, unfortunately one was footling breach, and I went into labor 6 weeks early so did end up with a c-section the last time, but only because of the position of the babies. She is great, all the ladies in the office are great, I highly recommend them!!

I totally loved my do, MacArthur Hill. Totally for VBAC, even after 2 C-sections, but my specialist said no, due to other complications. His # ###-###-####. He delivers at Lutheran, so I know that's a haul, but I thought I'd pass it on, anyway, and let you decide. His office is across the street from Lutheran. Great hospital, BTW, and newly remodeled. He also has a great NP, but he'd be the one to see and deliver you, as she doesn't take anyone pregnant with a history of C-sections. You could see her for other needs. Congratulations!
