I'm in need of a pediatric dentist. Do you have one that you would recommend that your child likes going to?

What can I do next?

Kirstin, I take my kids to Patricia Ridgley in Tualatin. Our pediatrician takes her kids to Dr. Ridgley, as well. I would drive from Gresham to Tualatin for this dentist. The entire staff is excellent with both the kids and the parents, and I have great confidence in the doctor's abilities. My older boy, in particular, is very anxious about doctor visits and the like. In fact, at his very first dental appt. I was a wreck. I was sure my son would throw a fit and fight anyone who tried to get near him. (He has autism.) He was just fine from the moment he was escorted back. She takes steps to insure that the kids are comfortable, and is very patient. Also, she has handled another son's uncommon dental needs very well. She uses what seems to be the perfect combination of expertise, compassion, and professionalism.

I don't know where you are located but we LOVE J.J. Bittner. He is at Bittner Dentistry for Kids in Sherwood.

Dr. James in Wilsonville is AWESOME! He has seen my boys on a number of occassions, and they always LOVE going. Which makes my husband laugh since these are the same kids that scream when you try to take their temperature. It helps that he and his staff are super friendly and they make the visit so much fun, that most the time my kids don't want to leave. Oh, and the fact that his office is more like a toy store then a dentist's office helps too. Kind of makes me wish he did big people too. :-D

Here is his website: www.dentistryforkidsonline.com

Hi, Kirsten-

There was a request about this a few weeks back and I am pasting my previous response here. You might want to also check that previous request because there were several dentists mentioned and, depending on where you are located, you might be able to find a perfect fit with someone who is also close by.
Best of luck!

Dr. Pike is fabulous and only does pediatrics. My daughter went to him at age 3. She was always the shy type, but she took off with the staff while they let her feed the office hamster and then talked to them about all manners of things. The staff are very patient and nurturing-- no fear involved in anything. It was a fantastic first visit and she looks forward to going again. After the first appointment is made, a packet is sent to your house with pointers and a coloring book about Dr. Pike's office that you can review with your child about what to expect at Dr. Pike's office-- so helpful and reassuring!

His office is located off of 26 and I believe the Sylvan exit or thereabouts.

Best of luck!

There are a number of GREAT pediatric dentists in town. If you are down south, there is a super one in Wilsonville - Dr. James at Dentistry for Kids (www.dentistryforkidsonline.com) is amazing, I know from first hand experience. If you are up north, Dr. Stafford at World of Smiles (www.visitworldofsmiles.com) is great with the little ones and gets outstanding reviews. If you want a dentist for your whole family who is great with kids too, Dr. Ibsies in West Linn at Smile Linn Dental is your man. You can read more about him at www.smilelinndental.com

Kristin,
I don't know where you live but if it's Portland I have a great pediatric dentist to recommend. His name is Michael Royse, 511 SW 10th Ave (downtown Portland), ###-###-####. He was recommended to us by friend who is a dentist and takes her two small children to him. My daughter loves him.
Hope that's helpful.
