Seeking a GREAT Hairstylist in the City

I'm a full-time working mom of a 2 1/2 yr old and a 6 month old. I need a great style and cut and not something that takes an hour to do. I have fine, thin, wavy/curly hair and I'm willing to wear it either curly or straight, again, just as long as it doesn't take forever to make it look good (the sign of a good cut in my opinion).

I'd like to find someone who listens when I tell them that I need something easy, and can give me a cut that is stylish and works well with my face and hair type.

Any recommendations for this dream stylist, in the city (Chicago)??? Thanks.

Cheryl at Chicago Avenue Salons (right near Chicago and Damon). I love her and have followed her to three salons- this last one being her own salon she opened. She's that good.

David Noll at Sine Qua Non on Lincoln Avenue is outstanding - he really knows how to give a cut that works well with your hair type and shape of your face. He is by far the best stylist I've ever had. The salon's number is ###-###-####.

I've been seeing Irene Mangione for upwards of 8 years now - I've followed her to three different salons, in fact. She's been at Solo Salon in the West Loop (1065 W. Madison)for about three years. She does really well with curly/wavy hair, which is what I have, and has always given me cuts that I can wash and go or style if I have the time. The number is ###-###-####.

Hey A.,
I always got great cuts from Big Hair in Roscoe Village. They're relatively inexpensive, too. I think the last time I went they were $15 for a cut. It might have gone up a bit, I'd call to see, but I always felt like I got more cut for less money. I hope that helps!

I go to Bonnie Knobloch at Marianne Strokirk on Oak Street near North Michigan Avenue. I have thick curly hair, but when it's straightened, it's actually very fine. Bonnie has been doing my hair for years and has been written up in Chicago Social magazine. She charges about $80 for a cut and blow dry.

Raydine of Chicago Hair Care is the best I've ever seen. Her new salon is on Ashland, just north of Addison.

I L-O-V-E my stylist! I started seeing him earlier this year, after 5 years with my previous stylist. I just got to the point with my old stylist where I felt like every time I left the shop, my hair looked the same, no matter what I told her to do to it! It was time for a change and I am so happy that I made it!

I now go to Hydrate Salon in Bridgeport, off of Morgan St. You can google them, they have a website with location and hours. You want to see Jimmy - he is the man. When I first went to him, I explained that I was bored with my hair. It's long - I wanted to keep the length but have something a little more interesting. He didn't need any more info than that - away he went cutting and styling. I've never had a stylist who could do that - they're always looking for you to dictate to them exactly what they should do so they don't screw up. But Jimmy can look at you and know what will work for your hair, face, and style. Love him!

Also...price is very reasonable, especially for the city!

If you do go to see him, be sure to tell him I said hello! : )

My hair is very thick and curly, so we have different hair, but I've been going to Patrick at Art & Science on Halsted for years now and love him! He's actually the manager of that branch so clearly he knows what he's doing! Good luck!
