I am seeking a really good OBGYN because I think I have PCOS and I also want someone who is careing, not in a hurry to get you out of their office, is a female Dr., and in the Mpls area. I currently go see Dr. Zygmunt in Fridley and I love her, the only problem is she had me tested a year ago for PCOS but I do not think she had all of the tests for it done and I swear this is what I ahve, I want a second opinion, also I have a family history of breast cancer and I am 36 years old and I really think I need to have a mamogram done now because now my 39 year old sister found a lump in her breast and said it is painful. Can you all please recomend someone to me.

What can I do next?

S.: For the PCOS, you might consider going to a Resproductive Endocrinologist. They are the people that typically do in vitro fertilization, etc but they are also highly trained in dealing with issues like PCOS and other things going on that might influence conception. They would definitely give you a very thorough work up...you might just check with insurance first to see what they will cover. I know that the U of M has a group of great docs and I am sure there are others around the cities.

I also have quite a few of the symptpoms of PCOS, and yet tested negativeely. There is a medicine called Glucofage that can help, althought it is notorius for stomach aches. My OBGYN gave me the medicine even tho i wasnt techinaclly PCOS. I dont know any Docs in the cities, sorry about that.

I really like the Dr's at the Coon Rapids Women's health center. I started going there because I wasn't having my period (for 9 months) and my husband and I wanted to start a family and none of the other dr's around here would even talk to me until it had been a year. (kinda hard to try to concieve when you are not ovulating.) Coon Rapids Women's health is the only place that would even look for a reason I stopped ovulating.

I see Dr. Gorneau. Not a female doctor, but very good. I was tested for PCOS before I started seeing him and due to certain circumstances started going to him after I found out I had it (based off blood tests). We were trying to concieve so he discussed my options and we decided on a method. He's very nice. His nurse is very nice as well.
