Seeking a Good OB Doctor

Hi,
I thought I'd call on the collective wisdom of all of you and see if anyone has any recommendations for a great OB/GYN doctor. We live in the Midtown area, so Methodist is probably going to be our hospital. Are there any doctors that are wonderful (and any that I should stay away from)? I just found out I'm pregnant, so I have a few weeks to shop around.

What can I do next?

I was also going to say Ben Ryder. He was the assisting on my c section and the nurses were talking among themselves about how they hoped he would be there. Every one of them had wonderful things to say about him as a doctor.

He truly cares about all of his patients and it's true he goes to every one of his patient's births. He once left the house without shoes because the baby was coming so quickly (and made it). Also, a few years ago he grew out his hair for locks of love. It took him almost 2 years!

His office staff is incredibly friendly. The receptionist greeted me by name at every visit.

Hi S.!! I have the best OB in Omaha, Dr. Weidner, and have used him for all four of our children - the last pregnancy being twins!! He has a quirky sense of humor and is very aware of BOTH the mother's and father's ?s and/or concerns. My husband was a little shy at first and Doc sensed that - one of the first things doc said - before even getting to me - was directed to my husband. Doc looked at him and said, "so...how have you been feeling, any tenderness or nausia so far - bet you've been eating like crazy" and my hubby laughed out loud and has had no reserves since that day! Dr. Weidner is affiliated with Methodist and has a great relationship with the hospital and all staff - you can tell when people ask who your doctor is and they recognize his name!!! He has two offices here in Omaha - off 90th Dodge in Physicians Clinic/Womens Center and a newer office off of 156th Dodge. CALL HIM!! I have referred several friends and both of my sister-in-laws and all have great things to say. His number is ###-###-####; press option 1 for womens center; press option 1 for Indian Hills office on 90th Dodge or option 2 for the Health West office on 156th Dodge then listen for Dr. Weidner (wide-ner) and its just like interviewing a babysitter...if you don't like him, keep looking! :) Good Luck!!! Tell him M. and Dj sent you!!

Happily married mother of four; 7, 5, and twin 2yr olds & loving every minute!!

Dr. Ben Ryder he is right behind Canfields off 87th and Center (2723 S 87 St Omaha NE 68124) . He is the best physician I have met. I worked in the OB world for a number of years and I just could not hear enough good things about him. I really liked the fact that even if he was not on call he does his own deliveries. He was very calm during labor and made me very calm and we had a wonderful experience. His office is really close to Methodist so he made it very fast to my bedside at Methodist. ###-###-####

DR.BOSSERT!!! He is awesome. In fact, the whole practice (Kolbeck,Nabity,Bossert,Simmons and Schulte) is awesome. I would recommend any of them highly, but he is my favorite. Very professional and easy going. The nurses are excellent and friendly as well. Their Lakeside office (168th and Center) number is ###-###-####, but they have offices at Immanuel too (72nd and Ames,I think?) which is closer to the midtown area. Check out the business reviews on Mamasource and read what others have had to say. Congrats on your pregnancy!

We have loved Dr. Bossert and the staff at the office. They have been wonderful for both of our girls. The first took forever and he had to work for an hour to get her to face down but he stayed with us that whole time to do it. Our second was breech and we decided to try a version. Dr. Bossert was wonderful during that experience as we had many questions before the day arrived. And he understood when I was upset that we were having to have a c-section. He always spends time with you during your appointments and always asks about life outside pregnancy or even at your annuals.
