We moved here about 5 months ago and have yet to find a church. We are looking for a smaller church. About 200-500 people. We are Christian and would like to find a Baptist or Community Church. Also one that has great children's programs!! Any ideas would be great. We live in the Sea World area and would like to stay fairly close to home.

What can I do next?

S., welcome to San Antonio. I moved here two years ago from New York and am attending BRCC (www.brcc.net) Braun Road COmmunity Church (Christian - Non Denominational). Three pastors from Baptist backgrounds/upbringing. Great activities for children infant to 12yrs. Great youth group/adoloescent program. If music fills your heart, this is the place to be.
1604 towards Bandera Rd - turn right on Braun Rd. You'll see and Exxon and Valero gas station. Continue 1.4 miles to Bandera Rd. BRCC is on the right hand side.

You might check out Bandera Road Community Church, located at Bandera and Braun Road. Although it is a little bit bigger church, it is a WONDERFUL church. They are VERY focused on the children and have FANTASTIC children's programs.

They are what you would consider a non-traditional church. The atmosphere is very casual and they believe in "come as you are." They are non-denominational and the best part: non-judgemental. :) Check them out...I think you'll be glad you did.

Hi S.! (that's my sister's name too!) My mom has been attending the Northwest Hills Christian Church on Potranco Rd. for several years. I grew up with the minister, Vernon Welshans. Please go and ask for my mom, Kathy Schuette! We also live in the Sea World area, off Westover Hills Drive. If you ever need anything (playdate, etc) please let me know. I know how hard it is to be in a new city! I have been to several churches, and they have the traditional music with a modern twist (a small band in lieu of an organ or piano).

Community Bible Church is the most awesome church I've ever attended! Robert Emitt delivers weekly sermons that are both humorous and applicable to everyday life. In addition to his weekly sermons, they have wonderful life groups to join for children & adults. It is located on the north side of town: 1604 & Gold Canyon. From the Sea World area, it is about 20 minutes away depending on traffic of course. Check it out- there are 3 services: 1 on Saturday night and 2 on Sunday. Good luck in your search.

Hi S.. Well, I'm not sure I have a good option for you, but I'll tell you what I know about 2 churches in town. We previously went to Community Bible Church on 1604 at Gold Canyon. It's a HUGE church - about 10,000 people, but it has an amazing kid's ministry.
Now we go to a TINY church - about 50 people - called Alamo Stone. It is a start-up and we don't have any children's ministry at the moment. But, it is a community of believers that are committed to serving the Lord and having authentic relationships w/each other.
I would be happy to give you more info about either church if you want it.

I attend Northwest Community Church. It is non denominational and is fairly small. The people are friendly, the sunday school classes (for both adults and kids) are great and the pastors sermons are very good as well. They have the AWANA program for kids as well. It is located off Guilbeau and Tezel and services are at 9:30 & 11. Visit: http://nwchurch.org/ for more info.

Oak Hills Church, just outside 1604 on IH-10 is AWESOME!

A church on a real mission to intercede for the city of San Antonio.

Max Lucado is an incredibly blessed teacher.

There's really a great kids program (age appropriate) (Bibleland/Veggie Tales, etc.), and mens & womens programs.

Stop in for a visit, you will be glad you did.
