Neither sets of grandparents live nearby so I'm looking for a website where I can upload vidoes of our baby to show them. Does anyone have a suggestion that works well for this? I'm hoping to find a secure site instead of a public one like YouTube.

YouTube can be used - you just set the video setting to "private" and specify who you want to see it. We do the same with the grandparents. My mom tried to forward the video to a cousin and it wouldn't play for her, so I know it works.

I use flickr for photos-setting most to friends and family only. You can put videos there too, 90 seconds or less though. For longer videos I use vimeo.com, they also allow you to set them as private.

I've used snapfish to share videos with my family. It has a minimal monthly charge and my parents have loved seeing my daughter grow (they live on the east coast). Once she is a little older we are going to do Skype as it is more interactive.

Well there are so many I don't know where to start. There is Myspace, Facebook, Mac Web-gallery (if you have a mac), Kodak gallery, Snapfish, Yahoo.......... start with these and good luck! Oh yah, all of these you can make private so that you share them with who you want. They are all free too!!!!

I know you asked specifically about video sharing programs/websites but I wanted to mention Skype.com, which allows you to "videoconference". Both my family and my husband's live far away from us and we use Skype as a way to communicate with viewing ability. It's free software downloaded from the website and compatible with both mac and PC systems. A webcam is needed and all parties who want to communicate need to register and create profiles on Skype. Not only do our relatives get to see our son in action, but he in turn gets to see and become familiar with them.

I agree with suggestion below -- www.phanfare.com - fantastic site with the best customer service!

They give you 1GB for free, so you should at least try that. If you like it, the membership is like $50/ year, and definitely worth it.

Have you thought about just getting a video phone that works through your computer/internet. A little more private than a website and you can have a 2 way conversation with your parents.

We as a family use www.myfamily.com We have websites for my husbands side, my side and one for all the descendants of my mother's parents. This way pictures and videos and stories can be shared with a specific group of people. It does cost about $30 a year but you have a lot of space to fill up online.

Another option is creating a blog on blogspot.com and making it private. Only people you invite can come see pictures, videos and posts.

When sharing photos, almost any photo website will allow private sharing, but for videos, the other options are better.

If you have a Kodak camera you can upload your pics/videos to your online gallery. Otherwise I like ringo.com

My sister does a great blog through google for her girls since she lives so far away from everyone. She can post pictures and video's and you have to sign in every time you look at it, and she has to authorize your e-mail address so you can use it. The website is blogger.com, and is secure so only your friends and family can see what you post.

www.photobucket.com

www.dropshots.com

Both are free hosting sites and you create your own account so only you can change/add pictures.

dropshots also allows you to give a password to family and friends to view your pictures/photos, so they stay private no matter what.

www.onetruemedia.com is one that I have seen others use, you can get real creative with the videos too, using live footage and pics.

When we had our daughter we lived 2000 miles away from our families, and everyone wanted photos. We used snap-fish and it worked out great. You have to set up an account and so do the people who want to receive the pics, but you can also order pictures from the site and they get to you in about 3-4 days and are very cheap. I hate going to get pictures. It is great to do it all from home. I have all my pictures stored on the site and I have hard copies of all of them! (I also keep back up disks, just in case!) Hope this helps.

We use babyjellybeans.com to post pictures and videos of our baby. You can password protect your site, so this made us feel more secure about who accesses our baby's site.

I have used YouTube for this same reason. You can choose how to "share" your video on YouTube. If you select private you can share with a selected group of people that you have listed as "friends". I also felt wrong about posting a public video, so this worked out well. Your friends and family will have to sign up on YouTube- but it's free and easy to do.

We love www.phanfare.com it does cost a fee but it is well worth the price. It is private and easy to download pictures and videos. The software is loaded on you PC so I work of line organizing my photos into dates and then upload them all at one. I have even started to scan our older photo albums so my photos go back to the early 1900s.
It is fun for the whole extended family to view.

You can use myspace and choose to only show videos to friends, but everyone has to sign up then in order to view. It's what I do, but a lot of people in my family don't have myspace, so it doesn't always work out the best for those that are not up to date on computer technology.

There is a website called Skype. You need to have a webcam to do it, but then you can talk to the granparents on the computer and they can see the baby. We use it with my daughter a lot, and the grandparents love it! Just a thought ;0)

hi! my kids have their own website from babyhomepages.net.
this way our family who live 2,000 miles away, can see pictures, video, songs, and stories about our boys. It's a great site and it only costs 2.25 a month if you want to access all of the sites features. It's free if you only want to share pictures, but you are only allowed 15 photos per website that way. Also, if you do it free, you can't put audio or video on there either. We love the site. I update my boys page once a month to keep far away relatives in the loop of the happenings around here:-) oh, and you can keep your site private so that just your family and friends can access it. Hope this helps!

You may want to consider setting up a blog on vox (www.vox.com). I found that site through a friend who was using it to share pics of her new twins. You have the option of sharing your postings with the public, a select "neighborhood" of friends, or only friends and family so that way you can keep your videos and photos private. However they would have to sign up to vox as well to see those private postings. You can check out more information about it here http://www.sixapart.com/vox/tour/
