I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips on how to introduce a second baby into the family. I have a 16 month old son and we're due in 6 weeks time with our second son and i'm worried about my little man and how he'll feel.... i worry about him visiting me in the hospital, when we get home, and just in general. i'm also having a c section so i'm super worried about not being able to pick him up :( i used to live in NYC but now live in Australia. My family and close friends are all back home so my help is limited. I was told to get presents and maybe even a little doll for him???? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you

I don't think you have much to worry about. In view of the fact that your first baby is so young, they should really bond. The only advice I can give you is show each one equal affection, let him kiss the baby, make him a part of most of the things you do with the baby, and everything will be ok.

Hi Marissa, Congratulations on your coming addition. Yes you can get him a doll and a gift. Having a sibling is very natural. Try not to show your anxiety and all will be well. Be positive and he will be happy. I know you cannot imagine sharing your love with 2 but you will. Trust me, I have 5 and your heart grows bigger with each one. Get yourself some bigger blouses:-) Chill out and enjoy! Grandma Mary

My son was 14.5 mos old when baby #2 came. There truly was no transition problems. Whenever our oldest was around the baby, we provided a ton of positive reinforcement (cheering, clapping, etc.). you'll be surprised how great he'll adapt. We bought our son "big brother" t-shirts with Elmo on them. That was a hit! Best of luck! Whatever you decide to do will be fabulous! Having a sibling is such a gift.
