Hello Everyone!
I am now over 36 weeks pregnant with Baby Number Two. I am so excited and I'm sure that you all remember how that last month DRAGS! :) I am enjoying the last few weeks alone with my first son, but I am also anxious to introduce him to his brother. It's going to be great. My question to all of you moms of two or more out there... How did your second pregnancy compare to your first? My doctor told me that because my kids are close together, this one could come earlier than my due date (even though my first one was late!). I was wondering if anyone else had this experience. My boys will be 21 months apart. Was your second pregnancy just a little shorter than the first?

What can I do next?

I really think it just depends because my first one came a week before we expected her, the second 2 weeks later then we expected and the third 3 days early. I think it all depends but he'll be here soon enough

I have 2 boys, 17 months apart. 1st at 38 weeks due to breach. 2nd was a totally different pregnancy and was 41 weeks. Believe me, I tried to get him out!! (I wasn't able to be induced due to a previous c-section.) Good luck!!

My two sons are 23 months apart. My oldest was over a week late and my 2nd was a day early. I have never heard that the the amount of time between pregnancies would make a difference in if they came early or not. My sons are now 3 and 5 and are the best of friends. Of course they have days when they drive each other crazy too! For the most part they play together and have a great time. I'm sure with the small age difference between yours they'll be best buddies too. Good luck and have fun!

Congrats on the second baby. I just wanted to let you know that everyone is different. I guess the general rule is that subsequent babies do come a bit earlier than the first. I was actually counting on that. :D My second son is 18 months younger than my first son. He was born a week AFTER my due date and he came very fast. Basically, just got to the hospital in time. My third son was born at 42 weeks and had to be taken with a Ceasarean. It all depends I guess. I think every pregnancy is different. Just enjoy the time until your second arrives, whenever he decides to come. :D

My pregnancies were different - I can't remember all the hows about it, because my girls are 5 years apart. (#2 was a surprise)

When pregnant the first time, doc gave me an August 26 due date. Ultrasound said a little later - they went with August 31. She was born on August 26.

With #2, I got a December 31 due date. She was born December 15 - again a surprise. I thought I was having false labor. I was only at the hospital about half an hour before #2 came.

So, my first was on the due date (I say that, because it was the first due date I was given) and the second was 16 days early.

That's my story - in a nutshell!

Well, my first little girl was born almosy 5 weeks early but healthy and came home with us the next day, 6lb 5 oz. My 2nd girl was 3 week early 6lb 8oz and my son was born 4 weeks early at 6lb 9oz. They all came super quick :) and are 4 years apart. I guess I never really experienced that last month and my first was ther earliest.

I just had my second son last Monday. My boys are 26 months apart. My first was born the day after his due date and my second was born the day before his due date. If you call that shorter, then yes my second was shorter. :) I will tell you that my labor with the second was about half the length. Good luck and have fun! We are in the introduction stage and it has been challenging!

congradulations on the new baby soon to be here. Every pregnancy is definitely different. they usuallly say that the next one after your first tends to come before the due date. My first born was 9 days early but my second was 1 day late. It did drag on those last few weeks but I ended up working up until the day i had my second (I even worked on my due date!) If you are wanting to help the labor process come about you can try walking, doing types of excersizes and even the dirty deed helps. But if you are not in a hurry spend the time with the your first born because from experience there is not a lot of time to do much when the baby is here because of the attention the baby needs. I hope this helps and congradulations again!!

Wow, your 2nd child. Congrats!!! I am a mother of 7 and let me tell you, every delivery is so different then the other. What I have noticed is when they are between 9mo to 3 years apart, the delivery is very similar. My first two were both 2 weeks late, they are 2yrs and 5mo apart. My 3rd was 5 days early, my 4th & 5th were both two weeks early, they are 22mo apart, my 6 & 7 were both 4 weeks early. As you have more children you will begin to see an earlier delivery then your frist two. My advise would be just go with the flow, that new baby of yours will come when he is good and ready!! Enjoy it now, because your hands will be full very soon. Best wishes,
L. B

Hello well congrats and its almost over! YAY!!! Well mine are just 16 mos apart and my son was 3 weeks early which is my 1st child. they told me to expect her early!! NOPE!!! AT 39 weeks they actually induced me because she was in no rush and getting very big. SO when they induced me they are all this will be a fast delivery! I am like OK. My son was 12 hours. When they induced me they even say she would of came on her own within 3 days. So like 4 nurses were telling me how fast this delivery would be and it was 12 freakin hours! Seeing as my son was early this 39 weeks seemed like FOREVER and she was like 8 pound 4 oz and moved constantly so I was exhausted!

GOOD LUCK but babies have a mind of their own and the doctors don't know what will happen as far as how early or late or length of delivery!

Hi Lori, I also have two boys close together. They are actually 10 months and 3 days apart. When having my second son it went quicker than my first. I also had him earlier than due date. After I had my second son was born I was able to do alot more verses my first. I was in alot of pain and could not sit, stand, or lay for the first week in a half.

Hi L.,

Congrats! I am actually due in about 5 weeks, so I know the anxiety you are feeling! My first son was 2 weeks late-they actually had to induce me! Then, my second son was 9 days late. When I went in for my check-up, she stripped my membranes, and that sent me into labor that night! We are being surprised with the sex of this baby, but my midwife told me that boys generally come later than girls do. I'm not sure how true that is, but in my case, it made sense! :D

God bless you and your family! A new addition is always fun, but as you know, a lot of work!

Take care!

Hi L.,
I myself have 4 girls. I was induced with all 4 of them. Not sure that they come any earlier, but the labors sure do get shorter. My 1st labor lasted labout 18 hrs my 4th was about 5. I also work in labor and delivery, and it doesn't seem to matter what pregnancy it is I have seen moms deliver their first at 33 weeks and have to be induced with their second for postdates. Not sure if that is the answer you were looking for, I know those last couple weeks take FOREVER! Which Dr do you see? Have you discussed possibly being induced? Good Luck, anymore ? feel free to ask.:) K.

Hi L.!

Congratulations on the soon arrival of your son! I have three kids all 2 years apart. My first, son, came a day after his due date and weighed 7lbs 15oz. My second, daughter, was 5 days early and weighed 7lbs. 12 oz. My third, son, was 3 weeks early, but weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 oz. Ever pregnancy is different and your son will come when he is ready. Enjoy and savor these last few days with your first child, lavish him with all of your attention because as you know once the baby is born this new little one will require so much of your attention. Again congratulations! Enjoy every second, becasue they grow up much too fast! L.

Congratulations, hang in there. My first came at 37 weeks 5lbs 13 oz and was fine, came home with me. My second came at 36 weeks 5 lbs even and spent 11 days in the NICU-they're 23 months apart to the day. I am now 10 weeks pregnant with baby number 3 and am going to see a perinatologist to discuss my different options to keep preterm labor at bay and to hopefully carry this baby full term-at least 38 weeks. Just remember that each day spent inside you is one day less they'd have to spend in the hospital; trust me no one wants their baby to be stuck in the NICU when you go home. Plus if you're going to breastfeed I've heard that full term babies do much better at that-I struggled with both of mine, but eventually after they hit their due date they did much better. And not sure if your first had jaundice, but the longer the 'bake' the less likely they are to be hospitalized with jaundice. Hope I didn't scare you, but keep that little one it till he's ready.

Hi
Well I've had two children, 15 months apart!! and the pregnancys were totally diffrent from each other. With my oldest son, I was going in to labor from week 25 and was in the hospital. Then with my other son, I couldnt go into labor, it took 2 trys of Potosin and then them just breaking my water to go into labor. My oldest was born at 38 weeks and then my other was born 39.5 weeks

The only thing predictable about birth is it's unpredictable! In my 9 years as a doula, and being the mom of four young kids that is what I've learned ;)

Your son will arrive when the time is right. He still has a lot of growing and developing to do. Here's a great site that has 3D ultrasound photos and descriptions of the changes still to come for him: http://www.pregnancy.org/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment3.php#...

Best of luck and congratulations in advance!!
