My oldest son is three now and will be four in september. I was trying to find out about preschool and kindergarden. I have no idea how to find which public school he will be going to. we live in Bloomington,IN Or if he's even old enough for pre-school. I am looking for a full day school and relatively cheap. I do not want a daycare, I have a wonderful babysitter but my boys are the only kids there. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

My son goes to St Charles preschool and we LOVE it! He only goes three mornings a week, and it's $160/month. You can find more info here: They do offer all-day preschool (and have a daycare if you need for your younger son). I don't know much about other preschools, only the ones we researched. Those were all about the same price, and we felt we got more out of St. Charles. As for what school district you're in, you can contact MCCSC at ###-###-####.

We don't live anywhere near you so I can't recommend preschools. However, in order to find out which public school your kids will go to, call the school district administrativ offices of the town/city you live IN or CLOSEST TO and give them your address and they should be able to tell you exactly what elementary school your children should go to. Sorry I can't help on the preschool but hopefully you can at least find out what public school is yours. Good luck!

I used to live in Bloomington. Great town! When my son was little we took him to Monroe County United Ministries. It is a daycare/preschool. We adored them. When he was ready we sent him to St. Charles school. I know that when we were there (4 years ago) that they also had preschool. He had a wonderful experience there as well. I don't know about any of the other daycare/preschool centers in the area.
Hope this helps!! Good luck.

My daughter turned 4 in October and she has been enrolled in Children's Village in Bloomington. I can say it is thebest thing I have ever done. They take ages 6 weeks to Pre-K. She starts the Pre-K program in September. It is a bit pricey for a private school with security, covered playground, accredited teachers, and state approval but it is worth every penny, $163 a week. They do accept the child care vouchers if you are on that program. If not, you can apply to the Head Start program or Monroe County Ministries. All are good. Good luck!

Hi C.
We just moved to Ohio and I too have a 3 1/2 y/o son. We found a wonderful preschool through a local church. Your son is definitely old enough to go and would encourage you to get him enrolled. Little did I know that stands for children are SO much higher then they use to be. They are now required to be reading and writing when they get to school or shortly after they start. Check out local churches as around here they offer 2-3 days a week at 2 1/2 hours a day and my son LOVES it.
Good luck!!

The best recommendations come from other moms, so ask friends that are moms or have your mom or someone close to you that's around a lot of moms where there kids go. Full day preschools are not cheap though, just to give you a heads up. At my son's preschool, it's something like $3000 a year to send to all day preschool. My son goes Mon, Wed, and Fri from 9-11:30 and we pay $125 a month for it. Preschool can be VERY expensive. It may be just as good for him to find a daycare that has a preschool type atmosphere and curriculum. That way it will be cheaper than an actual preschool.
