Can someone recommend a fantastic chiropractor in the Northeast section of the Bronx. I am 6 months pregnant and have a bad case of sciatica. Looking for someone that specializes in pregnant woman and who does not cost a fortune, my insurance doesn't cover this service.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I would just like to say Thanks to all of those that replied to my email. I have been doing some stretches and will start Physical Therapy in 3 weeks. I never found a really good chiropractor but Thank Goodness I am doing much better. Thank you all again for taking the time and answering my question.

Is there any way that you could make it into the city? I am a chiropractor at 56 and Park. I see many pregnant women with the same problem. I could also ask around a bit for you but I don't know what kind of luck I will have. Always worth a shot. SO sorry about the pain! It can really get quite bad. Let me know.

i highly recommend a traditional osteopath (d.o.) - chiro care is an off-shoot of this but it is much more subtle and gentle. i used to see a chiro before discovering omt. the one i know in manhattan does not take insurance - we submit our claim and get reimbursed - but there might be others around. i wish you luck finding a d.o. or a chiro - as i know that pain does not feel good!!!

Hi
I had sciatica really bad. I went to a Spine Doctor. When the inflammation went down he suggested yoga instead of therapy. I went to a small one at a local church. You could get a DVD and do it at home. It's all about strenghtening . The initial visit to a Doctor may cost the most, they may want to prescribe an anti-inflammatory but once you get it under conrol, yoga helped me so much! And it doesn't cost anything if you do it at home! I know nothing about chiropractors but I do know you have to go alot . There are defintely DVD geared toward pregnancy and yoga. Check with your baby Dr.
Good Luck to you.
Oh I also remember when the pain was so bad I had to crawl to the bathroom and sit in the shower and my girls had to give me a shower so I do understand the pain. But don't lift a thing !(easy to say) until you get the inflammation down!!

Hi - I had sciatica and I feel your pain. I had it when I was overweight. The baby is putting pressure on your sciatic nerve. I dont' recommend a chiropractor though. A physical therapist is much better. There is a PT office over on Bronx Park East. I forgot the name of it. Also, if you use a PT, your insurance will cover it.

Go see Gopi Jhaveri at MetroSports in Brooklyn. ###-###-####. She is a woman's health physical therapist who specializes in these issues. She's fabulous and it's covered by insurance.

I don't know anyone in the Bronx, But I know when I had it the OB told me to get on all 4 like you were about to crawl and rock your body back and fourth and that sometimes moves the baby off your nreve. Doesn't hurt to try.
Hope you get some help soon.

only someone who has experience this understands the pain.
have you asked your ob/gyn or midwife? I'm in Bklyn,so I can't help with a referral, but I did experience some relief years ago (my daughters are 23 and 25) with a combination of physical therapy, acupuncture and massage therapy. the good news is that your due date is closer than farther away!
I recall being cautioned against use a heating pad or any of the gels to alleviate the pain-but that was years ago and thinking may have changed. Check with your OB/GYN before you do anything. My best wishes for a safe delivery and a happy, healthy baby!
