I was going to make these cuties but ran out of time :-( Take a small circle of tulle netting (can buy them precut at Wal Mart or a craft store) and fill with jelly beans or spring M&Ms. Gather the top and tie with a ribbon. Hot glue a bunny or chick head on....you can make these out of pom poms and felt for the ears, beak, etc. Add some google eyes and you have a cute bunny/chick. I teach preschool and one of my parents made these and they were just the absolute cutest and unique things and the kids loved them.
Also go to www.familyfun.com for some really sweet craft or snack ideas. Good luck!

Hi! I found a really cute idea for an Easter Party! You take HoHo's, Peeps(marshmellow bunnies), life savers and jelly beans. You lay the HoHo flat and take some icing and put a little bit on the bottom of the Peep, put it in the middle of the HoHo, then you add a stearing wheel with icing and a life saver in front of the HoHo. Put wheels on it with life savers or jelly beans, make head lights and then put a life saver on the back of the Peep for a back seat. It is so cute! The kids will love them, and they are very simple to make. If you have more questions e-mail me at ____@____.com
Have a great day and good luck!!

A favorite of mine, that I will make for my son's class this year, is Easter egg "nests". You use a similar recipe for rice krispy treats, only instead of rice krispies, you use Chow Mein noodles! You form them into little "nests" and put any egg shaped candy into them (M & M's, jelly beans, malted milk eggs, etc)!! I go a step further and put a marshmellow Peep chick on top! I think Peeps are gross, but they sure are cute on there! I get little clear containers and put easter grass in the bottom, so each child has there own "nest". Hope this idea helps!

Hi K.,
When my boys were young I would make cupcakes in colored ice cream cones, after I put the frosting I put colorful spinkles. All the kids loved them! I would stand the cones up in cupcake pans to bake. To bring them to the party, I cut holes in a coke box, or any box will do, turn the box up side down and put the cones in the holes. Makes for easy transporting. Good Luck! C.

Hi K.,

I know that our local schools will not allow homemade foods to be brought as treats. I think it's a shame because there are some really cute recipes ideas for easter. Perhaps you could purchase plastic eggs, decorate them and fill them with a pre-made treat. Hope your little one has fun!

I worked in child care for 11 years and the national food program if your center is on it won't allow homemade items. Not only that but my son is not into many sweets so I liked to bring crackers, cheese & meat trays, things that were not mostly sweet. Plus I liked taking things that the teachers in his room could eat with the kids or save if they had too much as an extra to use the next few days. I was also known as being the one who liked to bring "simple gifts" if the food stuff was already signed up for. I also loved giving to my classroom alternating all year round with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, small containers of playdoh, holiday plastic straws, holiday cups with stickers or temporary tatoos, etc

Family Fun Magazine (this month Mar 2008) has a very cute idea of a bunny driving a care. It is made using Ho Hos for the body of a car, a peep for the driver, life savers for the steering wheel and sprees for the tires. If you do not know anyone who subscribes to the magazine you could go to the city Library. The idea is on page 41.
Good luck.

A friend of mine is doing Rice Krispie treats inside of the eggs. You also could do brownies in mini muffin pan, decorate with a spring theme.

I saw some cute cookies at a bakery the other day that would be sweet to bring. Basically, they dipped half of the cookie in almond bark that had pastel colors added to it then added sprinkles. Then they put them on lollipop sticks and had them in an Easter basket with floral foam, so that they all stood up. It was adorable!

I worked at a daycare center for 17 yrs. which of four years I severed as the Director.
At our parties we asked the parents to bring fruit and fruit juices. The parties usually had a color theme. Like if it was for St. Patrick's Day party. Green fruits(grapes, pear, apples. etc. Easter(mutiple color fruits and fruit drinks, etc. Birthday, the childs favorite color was the theme, etc., Independence Day(4th of July)red, white and blue, etc.) Just use your imagination as far as fruit colors and serving arrangements. Hope this helps some.

Put your cake batter in ice cream cones 3/4 full bake just like you would cup cakes. Green frosting with jelly beans and a dum dum sucker stuck in the middle. The kids can eat the whole thing without much mess. And they look cute too.

I don't know about your daycare, but ours requires that all food be store bought. You can get a cupcake cake made at Wal Mart or other grocery stores. It's still cupcakes, but they can be arranged in a different shape (a bunny perhaps?) and decorated with icing. We got one for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. It was in the shape of a dog bone with 3 little TheDOG plastic keychains on it. (My daughter LOVES dogs lol)

I know you said different but here's a twist to the old cupcake; make cupcakes in ice cream cones. You just fill 2/3 full of cake batter your choice and bake in oven. Remove cool and ice and decorate with icing in shapes of eggs or actual candy eggs on top of icing. Make colored grass etc.
Make the cake healthier by using applesause equal to the oil called for in the recipe. The teachers will love the idea of no paper cupcakes, the kids like it because they eat the cone and all.

An Easter bunny face cake is EASY and CUTE. You use 1 box mix to bake 2 round cakes. When cool, cut 2 almond shapes out of one of them to make the ears. The middle piece remaining is the bowtie. Set them on a cookie sheet or foil-wrapped cardboard. Frost the face and ears with white and a little pink for the ears. Frost the tie any color. Use jelly beans to make the eyes, nose, buck teeth, and polkadots for the tie. Use thin licorice (or cut them thin) to make the mouth and whiskers.

I recently took donuts from WalMart to my sons birthday party at preschool. They redipped them in glaze and put really cute sprinkles on them while I waited. The children really liked them, and it was something differnt.

You could also get the cookies on a stick at a place like "Cookies by Design." That can get a little pricey, though. At Valentines day, they had the cookies on a stick in the Target bakery, and they were not so expensive.
