So What Happened?

Hey Everyone Thank you so much for the prayers and advice. We went to the dr and the ultrasound showed that the baby is fine!! (the best news I have ever heard) They are not sure what made me start bleeding they said it might have been due to me being constipated and straining to hard when i went to the bathroom. We did get to see the first pictures of our baby its still way to early to tell if its a boy or girl but you could see the baby sucking his thumb!! I just want to tell all of you how much i appreciate all the advice and the prayers they helped me so much!!

I had the same thing happen when I was about that far along with my 2nd child when I was 25, he will be 41 in october. they put me in hosp on complete bed rest for 4 days and all was fine. No need to panic yet, as one of the other posters said it could be anything from nothing serious to the worst, but just take it easy till you get in to see the Dr. Just know that it doesn't have to be worst case scenario.

I bled at 11 weeks with my first child. It scared me, too. The best thing you can do is relax while you are waiting to go for the ultrasound. Many times, nothing is wrong. Don't let worry steal your joy.

Hey K.,

I do hope it is nothing serious. And can only tell you that it is either as serious as a miscarriage or as simple as a pocket of blood. I prayer for the lesser as 16 weeks is far enough along that you should get to be happy and have the much decreased risk of miscarriage. Most M/Cs happen in the first trimester or by 13 weeks and are due to fetal abnomalities such as incorrect chromosomal arrangement, poor implantation or heart irregularities. I can only tell you that it is not best to be freaked out or to reassure yourself either. You really just have to wait in limbo, not knowing what to feel. It is emotionally rough. And the doctor's appt will tell you almost everything. As you probably already know, or as your doctor will tell you, they can not stop a M/C. It sounds so cruel, but it is true. I will say a prayer for you and your family, as a baby is the best blessing and it is only normal to be attached and emotional as soon as you know you have a blessing on the way. May everything turn out to be simple and May god bless you with your baby in a safe 22+ weeks.

I too started bleeding at about 15-16 weeks and it lasted for nearly 4 days. If I had not had a pregnancy test and knew I was pregnant, it was heavy enough that I would have thought it was a light/moderate period. I was also cramping and not feeling well. I went to the dr. on the 4th day, had an ultrasound and all was well. I delivered an 8 lb. 10 oz. beautiful baby boy months later full term. I was very scared and teary during the ordeal because you don't know what to expect. I heard from others at that time that this is not terribly uncommon. Hope you feel better soon.

During my first pregnancy, I had some bleeding from some type of infection that I had.. they gave me medicine and it went away but it scared me to death. I know it's hard but try not to panic. My Dr. always told me the only time I really needed to worry is if I was gushing bright red blood.. otherwise it is very normal to bleed some during pregnancy. If it was brownish blood.. it should be ok. Good Luck to you and I will pray it all turns out well for you.

It could be a number of things. This pregnancy (my third) I had bleeding which was caused by the placenta attaching to the uterus. A friend of mine had the same issue, but had quiet a few bleeding episodes, up until 24 weeks. If you had just used the restroom, and had a bowel movement it could be bleeding from hemorrhoids. Which is completely normal. Good luck and I hope the Dr. is able to hep you!

Sorry to hear about your trouble. When I was pregnant I bled while on the toilet at around the time of your pregnancy. As disgusting as this may sound, I was having a bowel movement and the doctors seemed to think I may have broken a blood vessel or something that caused the bleeding. I had complete bed rest for 1 week until the bleeding stopped completely. I also bled during my eight month as well - same situation - same bed rest.

I hope things go well for you. I know it's scary though. I was terrified! My pregnancy was 25 yrs ago and I can remember that fear like it was yesterday. The doctor I had at the time did not believe in ultrasounds so I didn't really know the baby was okay until I felt him move for the first time. That was the most wonderful feeling I've ever had.
Hopefully the ultrasound will be your mind at ease.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband. Let me know what happens.

i had some bleeding when i was about 12 weeks.
it was really dark so i called the doctor and they said if it was bright red to come in and if it was like brown that it was old blood leaving my body. i only bleed a little bit for about 3 days. so if it is dark blood and not heavy its most likely old blood.

Can you tell if it is vaginal blood or perhaps coming from your rectum indicating a hemorrhoid? Have you been constipated so that you may have a hemmorhoid which would not be a problem with the pregnancy itself. Fresh vaginal blood could be a potential problem. You are wise to get this checked. Please let us know how you are!

Have you had an ultrasound before and seen the heart beat? I had allot of bleeding with my second child and when I called the doctor on call (because of course it started on a weekend) she told me that if we had seen the heart beat on ultrasound already it greatly reduces the chance of miscarriage - which we had already seen the heart beat - she of course was right - we went in on the next Monday and everything was fine - I bled for like 8 weeks - they said maybe the embryo was implanting into a vessel or something - never really knew exactly for sure what was causing it - but we found out bleeding during pregnancy is allot more common than we thought!! Hope everything goes well at your appointment today!!

Hi K.,
I would be terrified too. I just had my first and didn't have any complications myself, but my cousin has had two children and she had some spotting througout her pregnancies. Both babies were born healthy. I think some bleeding can occur, especially since you're still pretty early along, but you've done the best thing you can by calling your doctor. That'll be the only way to determine if something is going wrong. If there's not any pain with the bleeding, I would think you're ok. Most people I know who miscarry say they had really severe abdominal pain plus the bleeding. Good luck to you both. I'll pray for you.
