I heard that turning your headlights on helps to save your gas! Is this true or not? Does anyone know any mechanics who can explain this. H ow would this work?

What can I do next?

Turning your headlights on does NOT save you gas...it might save your life as it is SUPPOSED to make you more visible to oncoming traffic....

I'm not sure who told you that....but they were likely yanking your chain!!

Lol! Oh girl.

Like the others said, definitely not! Sadly. I sure wish it did though!!

You can save gas, by yes using the cruise control but only if there isnt traffic, also by not "stop and go" driving. The more you regulate your speed then the better it is for gas.

Only other way I can think of is, not driving! Lol.

the lazy enviromentalist did a segment on saving gas... if you have netflix the series is on there (thats how i watched it)... said nothing about headlights lol.. think that is battery life... but it showed extreme driving to save gas, it was insane, and i would never drive like that lol, you should check it out and then feel better about headlights :)

ooohhhhhh nooooooo!!!!

Turning on your headlights is a visibility issue not a gas saving issue.

You can save gas by not idling your car....making sure your route is planned out so you aren't zig-zagging across town on errands...using cruise control...most newer cars are actually set to get better performance using the AC as the open windows creates wind drag....

I think I've seen the show that Amanda suggested and like Jo - there's no way on earth I'd get into that car with her!! YIKES!!!!

Yeah that doesn't sound right.
I've heard not "gunning it btwn lights" saves gas best .
Also, driving at a steady 40 mph. Never going faster unless posted that you must (fwy).
Steady and slow like the turtle saves gas.:)
Bunch all of your errands together.
Go when less traffic.

I suspect the same person that wrote about the alligators in the NYC sewers and the Obama/Lack of Pledge of Allegiance must have written this O. as well! LOL

BUT it is smart to have daytime running lights ON. It's a visibility thing.
