Santa Needs Help!

My five year old is sure that Santa is bringing a Disney Pocahontas Dress (XS/S). Since Disney is no longer making them, I am having a hard time tracking one down. I don't mind genly used, of course new would be great. I just can't pay the $60-90 that folks on ebay are asking. If any of you know of someone with one to sell or if you have any other ideas for me, please help. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

How amazing are you women?!?! Thank you so much for your ideas and willingness to help. I have a lead on a dress thanks to Patti. Hope to get it today. It is amazing to have such a wonderful network to turn to. Merry Christmas to all!

Thanks Patti K. The dress is perfect. Your daughter has a lovely Christmas spirit! Glad it will get some more wear out of it and make a little five year old so happy.

I have one that is a Small(Age 4-5)that is a Disney Pocahontas dress with arm band. It is gently used and my daughter is willing to give it up. We would sell it for $10. Call me if you are interested at ###-###-####. We live in the 281/1604 area.

Thank you,

My friends daughter had the same problem so I just made her a dress. She thought it was the best Pocohantas dress! It was also really easy to do. Just do a dress pattern with straps and add fringe to the top and bottom. Perfect dress that she can even wear out of the house! Hope this helps and if you have any qs just ask. Plus it was only like ten dollars to make!

FYI to all of you. When we were at Disney World in Orlando, their shops are full of items you cannot find anywhere else. They had an entire store devoted to the Disney Princesses and female characters.

I once called them for something I had seen there to see if I could order it from them, it took a while to find a contact, but I was able to find the item and purchase it!

go to freecycle.com for your area. These are given away things for people who are looking for things. There is no charge for the membership. You can at least look and see if someone has one that they now longer need. Good luck.

If finding one somewhere online doesn't work maybe look into making one? I would think the material and such could be bought for less than what you would spend on Ebay for it.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!

If you can't find one by Christmas, perhaps birthday?? You also may hafta help her come to terms with that she may not get one at all. Sometimes we can't always get what we expect. I RARELY got what I wanted for Christmas & if I did, it was always a "knockoff" alternate, not the real Barbie horse but a knockoff that wasn't even close, for example (my sister got the other Barbie horse BTW) so she may need to accept sometimes that either she can't always get what she expects or sometimes Santa does run out of certain things because all the little girls wanted the same thing. I wasn't given any type of reason why I didn't get what I wanted for Christmas every year, I just never got what I wanted & had to live w/it. If I asked "why" I'd get the generic answer "well you can't have everything you want." You should still look if you feel the need to find it but you also may have to pay more than what you'd planned too or else keep trying for a lesser price for her birthday or just not at all. Good luck!

How about a REAL Pocahontas dress?

A yard of brown felt: lay a dress she fits into on top, cut out front and back, make bottom longish, with a point in front and back. Sew sides and shoulders, fringe hem. If you don't sew, use the iron on seam stuff. Over lap front and back before you iron so it lays flat, rather than fronts together like on a regular seam. Glue or sew or iron on decorations, like beads, or even draw with permanent markers. It can come with a toy bow and soft plastic knife. Mocs if you can find them.

My daughter made an "Indian Dress" out of a pillow case, fringed the hem, and drew symbols and an indian name ("Shooting Star") on it, and LOVES it. I had to write over the markings with permanent pen mend the neckline it so it would last longer than one or two wearings!

Let me know what you do. I"d like to know.

You can make an iron on pretty easily by printing a pic off the internet onto iron-on paper from hobby lobby. Just buy a plain knit dress and iron-on your favorite logo.

I think that I've seen one at the HeB plus on Hwy 281 $10-15. The costumes are in the toy dept. Simple but cute. Also, try Disney outlet store and Party city. Good luck!

Hi A.! I always, always try Amazon.com first, because Ebay is too expensive, but Amazon offers all products, new and used. I did look a little bit and if you use the keywords Pocahontas dress, there are a couple of Halloween costumes that will come up.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!
