Sandbox Sand

I got my sand at lowes and it was about 3.50 a bag and it said for sand box (I think) But when my child gets out i just put baby powder on him and the sand falls right off with no problem

I just bought my son a sandbox from toys r us. They sell sand there and its the good kind, you know the kind that is exactly like beach sand. The only downside to it is its 5.99 a bag. But I have bought sand from lowes home depot and garden centers and I would gladly pay the 6 dollars for the sand from toys r us.

get the BROWN play sand - stay away from the WHITE play sand I made the mistake of buying the white play sand and it is awful!!!

Hi J., I have tried most of the sands around and found the best by far is from Toys R Us. It is about $6.00 a bag. Well worth it. My kids now get out of the sandbox clean instead of needing a bath when we used the low quality sands I have bought by mistake. It is just like the sand found on Florida beaches!! Oh how I wish I was there!! ;)

They have playsand at Walmart and Meijers. It says playsand right on it. That would be your best bet.

my neighbor bought sand at Meijer and it is really "dirty" and stoney. I bought it at Lowes and it is nice sand. It is called "play sand". It comes in bags of 50 lbs. I put 250 lbs. in mine. Mine is plastic and is a little bigger than the small crab, turtle, etc. ones are. I hope that helps.

Look for beach sand because it's crystalline silica free contractor grade sand contains fine carcinogenic dust check your local nursery/garden center. Hope that helps.

call around to your lawn supply places and ask for "play" or "mason" sand. Its fine (not rocky) and not dusty... We have a 6ft by 6 ft sand box and needed 1 yard...

Make sure you get "Play Sand". Walmart, Home Depot and Lowe's all sell it for a few dollars a bag.

Try Toy's R Us. They should be able to help.

Go to the concrete area at Home Depot and purchase both the play sand AND the medium fine sand. Mix both together to get the best of both worlds. The visual of mixing them together with your child is also fun in itself. Have fun!

I've always used what they call Play Sand, gotten from garden supply places or big stores that have garden sections.
