Does anyone have a suggestion on where to host a baby shower in San Francisco (other than a home) for a friend who will be a first time mom (e.g. any recommended restaurants, spas, etc.)? There will probably be 15-20 guests.

Lovejoy's tearoom in Noe Valley. I've never been, but there are showers there every weekend, and I think it's reasonably priced as well. Have fun!

My friends threw my bachelorette party at Crown & Crumpet at Ghirardelli Square. It was so much fun. I totally recommend it!

We love Lealand Tea Company. Very friendly folks. Their regular menu is awesome, we've had all sorts of gathering there, even my daughter's birthday. Call ahead for a large group.

Check out Lovejoy or Secret Garden, both tea houses in SF. I've attended many bridal and baby showers there and had a lovely time. Secret Garden has a private room that you can rent out.

Hi E.

Not sure of place in S.F., but in terms of a tip IF you need some favor ideas. I was recently at Aida's chocolates in Burlingame and they had these white chocolate baby shoes. It's a cute lil shoe that they had filled with blue jelly bellys and pink.. if you don't know the sex of the baby, could or let's say a person doesn't want the usual colors, you could put various colors in them. anyway, I thought they would be such a CUTE favor idea... if not those, they had prepackaged mini baby shoes that they wrapped in a clear bag with whatever colored ribbon you wanted.
Just wanted to pass it along..
good luck to you!!

What is your budget? If there is no money amount. Try the Rotunda room in Neiman Marcus. Very elegant.

Have fun!

The best baby shower I ever attended was years ago in Tilden Park. It was a potluck picnic, and moms and dads and kids and grandmas and grandpas were all invited. It was a wonderful day. (The "baby" who was being showered that day just finished medical school!)

If it's summertime, why not outside?

The only non-expensive place I can think of is called Lakeside Cafe, 2529 Ocean Ave (between 19th & Junipero Serra). There's plenty of parking (meters) and there's a huge back room you can rent and their food is pretty good. My sister had her bridal shower there and we had almost 40 people in that room and we all fit comfortably. Good luck!
