Hello~
We are planning a trip to San Diego with my eight year old daughter for spring break and have some questions:

Weather-wise, is this a good time to visit (late March)?
What are your top choices for places to see while there?
Is traveling to Disney for a day an option, or is it just too far away?
Where did you stay?

Thanks so much for your help!

What can I do next?

I like San Diego Zoo, the safari, the sea world, and Legoland.
There's Coronado Island, Balboa Park, La Jolla, and Seaport village that you can visit without paying admission :)
Disneyland is about 2 hours away from SD.
We usually found hotels through Hotels.com, you can choose which area and how much you want to pay for it. Hotwire sometimes give you a good deal hotel, but you have less control choosing what hotel and which room.
I only been there in December, but it always OK, just need sweaters during the day. March should be even better.
Enjoy your trip !

We went to San Diego last May and loved it. I believe it has the most consistent weather in that it is in the 70s and sunny most days so anytime of year is good to go. The San Diego Zoo is great and huge. You can't do it all in one day. Sea World was so much fun. We ended up going back for another half day because we enjoyed it so much. The kids loved feeding dolphins, sea lions and bat rays. Budget for buying fish to feed the animals. I also have heard Legoland is a lot of fun but we didn't have time to go there this trip. Disney is about 2 hours away so it is possible to go there.

How fun! Make sure you guys bring warm clothes because it can get cold. I would suggest Sea World-Lego Land might be a bit young for your daughter but research it, first. Definitely go see La Jolla and that area. Hotel Del Coronado is also a nice place to visit-it's a very old hotel. As far as where to stay-The Gas Lamp district is fun and you can walk to restaurants or take short cab rides. There's a nice Sheraton there. If you don't want to stay in a city type environment then there are hotels closer to Lego Land ad Sea World and such. Disney Land is too far for a day trip but if you can try to stay at the Disney Hotel right by the the park-a lot of families do that. The shuttle takes you back and forth. Have a great trip.

Balboa park is great, if they haven't changed things they used to have free admission to the museums at certain times during the week, it changed every day. The park is bigger than central park in new york and also where the zoo is located.

Point loma is one of my favorite places, go at low tide and you can visit the tide pools as well as check out the light house and awesome view.

It's pricey but even if you can't afford it do stop by the hotel del corondado, Coronado has a lot of neat little shops to visit as well.

I'd suggest the seal tour, I'm sure you can find info online or once you get to a hotel there, it's a land and water tour and we got to get real close to a bunch of sea lions in the ocean.

sea port village is really neat, I think that's where we found the seal tour

Also make sure to check out all the naval ships and such, although I don't recall where they are located.

there is an indian reservation in the area, that has a great outlet mall and a water and light show after dark, it's in the mountains, so take a sweater it will get chilly after dark.

while it's normally sunny and warm, march and april could be rainy, and it does get chilly at night. have fun!

My brother lives near san diego and his 7-year old son loves Legoland.
we have been to Florida Disney World a couple of times, and based on those experiences, it's awfully hard to only travel to and forth Disney in one day.
We visited San Diego a few years ago and enjoyed the Animal Safari Zoo stuff. Have fun!
