What time do you wake up in the morning? What time do your kids wake up? What does your morning routine look like, for yourself and for your kids?

Just curious, but also trying to revamp how I do things myself and just wondering what works for other people?

Thank you!

My son is still in school and my daughter is in a week long summer school this week because her preschool ended. I wake him up at 7am. He goes out to catch the bus at 8. I let my daughter sleep and if she does not wake up on her own I wake her up at 8 because her camp starts at 9. In the summer I let them sleep if there is no camp going on. So they both get up between 8 and 9. Once they are up they come into the kitchen and sit and I put some breakfast in front of them (usually cereal). They often watch a cartoon on the laptop while they eat. About 15 minutes before it's time to go I tell them to brush teeth and pack up their backpacks and put on shoes. I help my preschooler bc she has a hard time staying on task.

NOT a morning person. i sleep until 7:30- 9:30 if allowed to wake myself naturally. having to get up from the alarm grumps me out.
so i allow myself TWO cups of coffee if it's an alarm morning.
once we started homeschooling the boys got up whenever they wanted unless we had co-op or some sort of activity to get to. they're night owls like their mama and often slept until noon-ish. so long as they got their work done i let them arrange their own schedules. they got a list of schoolwork and chores every sunday, and had the week to get through them however they liked. there was almost no conflict once this system was in place. much more stress and drama during the public school years.
and despite all the dire predictions, nobody needed to be 'trained' in how to get up when necessary. both of my kids now are grown and have jobs and college classes, and manage them just fine.
i, however, need a 4 hour lead time before i have to leave the house. it's ridiculous.
ETA was never a stay at home mom, so maybe this question just doesn't apply to us at all.

I tend to wake up about 5 or 5:30am.
During the school year our son is up at 6am but during the summer he likes sleeping in later till 7 or 8 am.
I like getting things done when it's cooler in the morning - like my walk and shower.

Currently with a competitive skater, 5:15am.

Without morning training, and school starting at 8:30, then by 6:30am.

Enjoy these years! They go by fast!

My kids are early birds. They wake up around 6 and go downstairs to play on their own. I get up around 7, get a shower and dressed, and make them breakfast around 7:30. Sometimes they get hungry before I come down and if so, they get breakfast themselves (ages 5 and 8). Usually they wait for me though. After breakfast, they get dressed, write in journals or read for 20 min, and then they have the rest of the day to play.

(I'm not a stay at home mom, but I'm not sure why it would make a difference for this question. Babysitter comes at 8:30, and she just picks up where ever they are in the routine.)

Mine are 10 and 13, and my rule over the summer is up and dressed and eating breakfast by 9:00. Otherwise, they don't come down until they are over hungry, and low blood sugar means combative and uncooperative. Plus, we just have too many things to do- they do odd jobs in the neighborhood (dog walking, watering plants for vacationers, etc), have instruments to practice, reading and math practice, and chores. It sounds like a lot, but the chores and practice take about an hour, the odd jobs take about an hour, and then the rest of the day is theirs to do with as they please. The rule is they get those things done first - that way we can spend the rest of the day playing, not trying to slog through things in the heat. Days when I don't get them up and moving, it'll be afternoon before we even get rolling.

During the school year, it's much earlier - my middle schooler starts class at 7:30, so I was having to get up around 5, get myself rolling and get her up around 5:45 - she's terrible in the mornings and needs a lot of time.

During the summer I get up around 6. I prefer to have my coffee and me time before dealing with everyone else.

When I was a SAHM and before the kids started school I got up at around 7-7:30am and the kids got up around 8:00am. I liked to have some peaceful time alone to have coffee and read the paper. Once the kids were up we ate and dressed, I tidied up while the kids watched a little tv or played, and we headed out the door by 10:00am for whatever our morning activity would be. When the kids started school they were out the door by 8:45 for 9:00 start.

i have always let my children wake on their own. when ds was a toddler he would wake around 10 am. now he is up around 8 daily. no matter the bedtime he is up around 8. he eats breakfast and we go about our day. dh's alarm goes off at 7 and hes at work by 8 so i am dressed and relaxing waiting for the kids to get up to have breakfast. i doubt much will change in the fall when school starts since class begins at 9 and were usually ready by then.

We home schooled for many years so we were very relaxed about getting up. The kids knew, though, that we did school work until we finished so the earlier we got started, the earlier we finished. Two of mine are in high school now and I still home school my youngest.) I hate waking up so I enjoyed our late mornings. The older two have to get up early for school.

Now it is summer and they are older (8, 14, and 16). I usually let mine have a couple of days or a week to sleep in a little longer. They are on swim team so once morning swim begins in a week, they will have to get up early anyway.

My advice is just give them a late morning sometimes, if possible. They are only young once and will spend most of their time getting up early racing to school or work. It is good to have a schedule but a little break now and then is fun, too.

I'm assuming you have younger kids? Mine are 12 and 15. So we get up whenever we want during the summer. I usually sleep in until 8-830 but they are early birds and are up before 7.

During school, my 15 yo has to catch the bus at 630am and she sets her alarm and gets ready on her own. I take my son to school at 8am. So him and I can sleep in a bit longer but usually get up around 7.

My husband is usually up around 6 and since everyone has different schedules, we all fend for ourselves for breakfast. The kids get themselves ready and make their own breakfast. When my son went to public school and took the bus, I could sleep in until noon if I wanted to. lol That's one thing I've NEVER had a problem with was getting my kids up and ready for school, they have always been good at doing that on their own. =0)

Depends on if DH is home and when DD wakes up. She will often wake up around 7-7:30 but I have to wake her by 8 if she's not up yet. I rarely sleep past 7:20. Morning routine, if we aren't rushed, is pretty laid back. She can watch cartoons IF she's eaten/eating. I pack lunch, she gets dressed. I check that everything is in her bag and signed, etc. I check HW. By 8:30 she is to be mostly ready to go and can chill while I get a quick shower. We leave between 8:45 and 9 for school. Earlier time if we walk. Typically we both brush our teeth right before we leave.

I don't stay at home, but my husband is home right now and will be working from home soon, and otherwise we have sitters come to our house. The kids are now 8, 10, and will be 12 on Sunday.

The almost 12 year old is by no later than 6 on weekdays, she has to catch the bus at 644. She is up earlier if she has to make her lunch or shower.

The 8 and 10 year old are up at 715, bus comes at 822 for them. They like some cartoon time in the morning and are slow movers.

Weekends and summers? When they want, unless we have something to do which we normally do. My 10 year old has ALWAYS been a sleeper, even as a baby. He has been known to sleep until noon on a summer day, but hey, that's what summer is for! The 8 year old is normally up no later than 8, and the 12 year old is normally up by 7 - she's me. Early to bed and early to rise. It's rare that I sleep in past 7 ever, but maybe getting up at 5 for work means that 7 is really sleeping in for me!

I use to get up at 5, but lately I've been sleeping in. I get up around 6-7. One out of three kids is usually up around 6:45, another appears shortly thereafter, and the last one stays in bed till 8-9. My kids do media stuff while I do about 30 minutes of bill paying, etc. And then 30 minutes of exercise. Then we eat, and I pack us up-we usually go places 4-5 days a week.

I'm going to go back to waking at 5, but I like the media time in the morning so I can workout and have tea before I need to do anything else.
