So What Happened?

Thanks to all who replied! The Walmart tip is invaluable, I think. If he doesn't need to hook up anywhere, the Niles Walmart is as close as I could hope to get. Thanks!

Wal-mart's let you park RVs in their parking lots. There is a Wal-mart on Touhy in Niles (same shopping center as BabysRUs if you are familiar) and I see RVs there all the time. Not the nicest Wal-mart if he is used to parking the RV at Walmarts in the south, but it does seem to have running water available in the parking lot. Although definitely a haul from the near North side (I assume you are talking about River North - if you are farther north, i.e., Southport or Ravenswood it's not so bad), it is near the expressway (Edens/94).

Not sure where there are other Wal-marts. Maybe the near western suburbs (Oak Park, Riverside, etc.).

Good luck.

Hi L. H

I searched the internet and found these two sites that might be at least a start in the right direction.
campnageelamidwest.org and methodiscampground.org the first one is on Peterson and the other one is in Desplaines. If they don't provide parking spots maybe they can suggest alternatives.

Good luck

I've never seen/heard of an RV parking area in the city. I think most RV parking is done at campsites? The only one I kind of remember seeing is when I was out by Starved Rock State Park out by Utica, IL. It is about an hour from the city. Its a beautiful place, and maybe a nice spot to meet? Another suggestion would be to check at your local bookstore for a Frommer's type of RV guide, where they list great places to visit, etc. Have you contacted the city's tourism office? They may be able to direct you somewhere.

I don't know of an RV park, but I thought there was a Wal-Mart on the Northside and I have read that you can park RVs in their parking lot.
