Hi Mamas-

We have just recently moved to Montgomery, IL and I am wondering if you can recommend a hospital. Which hospital, in your experience, is better? Provena Mercy or Rush Copley? Also, if you have recommendations for the following, I would appreciate it.

Internal Medicine Doctor
Pediatrician
Endocrinologist- Adult
Neurologist- Adult
Opthalmologist- Pediatric and Adult
Gynecologist
Cardiologist- Pediatric

Thanks a bunch!
N.

I had both of my boys at Mercy and had wonderful staff and wonderful experiences. Both deliveries were c-sections, one emergency & one planned. Everything is new, private rooms, private bathrooms, like a hotel!

i can't really say which hospital is better, but I would suggest that you check everything through your health insurance to make sure about what is in your network. then try to find doctors in that network. there is nothing worse than picking someone out and finding out they are not in the right insurance program!

Hi N.! I understand having just moved to this area myself and to the Chicago area in Jan 06. I love my primary doctor....who just so happens to be in the Naperville area. Her name is Karla Dorsey Johnson. She is in the DuPage Medical Group. I visited an opthamologist recently in Batavia (a little far for you maybe) but he was very thorough and extremely friendly. My chiropractor recommended him. His name is Charles Atwell. However due to failing my glaucoma screening twice I had to see a doctor in my network so I visited Dr. Gupta with Dupage MEdical Eye Specialists. My visit with him was short but he was very nice and I am returning in two weeks to meet with their glaucoma specialist. They are located in Downers Grove. Also very close to Naperville. Chiropractor that includes massage and physical therapy in Wheaton is Kevin Russeau. Very nice man and is really good. His facility made an amazing difference with my low back pain. I hope this helps. I know that none of the physicians I recomended are affiliated with either of the hospitals you asked about. I really don't know much about either of the two hospitals, but I did pay a visit to the ER at Central Dupage at 4am and was completely happy with my admit and discharge. They were extremely professional and timely. I was only there for about an hour and a half and they took really good care of me. I hope this helps. I wish I could advise you on the other issues, but being new hear also I haven't had much experience. Best of luck to you and your family with your move!
Sincerely,
A.

We have always used Rush and have always had a great experience! For a gynecologist I suggest Rush Copley Women's Health. All the doctors are female and they are all really nice, I see Dr. Embry and she is amazing. She will take her time and answer any questions you have, she is always interested in how you and your family are doing. For a pediatrician, we use Dr. Jerome Skurka. He is wonderful, great with kids and very interested in what is happening with the kids and suggestions for what to do. The nurses in his office are really good too, they always return phone calls within an hour or so and they always fit you in if you need to see the dr. right away. I'm not sure about the rest of the doctors you wanted to know about though.

Definitely Rush vs. Provena. For OB-Gyn, I use and like Andrea Jones. Her office is attached to Rush. For pediatrician, we also use the Dreyer Medical Group.

Good luck!

Hi N.!
I am 150% for Mercy!!!! I LOVE that hopsital. THey are so sweet and really there for EVERYTHING you need. I had a horrible experience with my first child at a bigger hospital and my second and third were born at Mercy and the nurses will always be in my memories. It was almost magical!!
As for OB, I actually see a midwife. Don't be scared off by that.....please check them out. It's Women First Midwifery. Deb Riddell....LOVE HER!!! She is just the most amazing woman you will ever meet. She has a wonderful staff and is there for you for whatever you need at ANY time!!! She is not the stereotype you think of when you say midwife. Her office is right across the street from Mercy. 1300 N Highland Ave Ste 5 Aurora Il. ###-###-####.
As for a peditrician, I love Dr. Natalie at Dreyer. However, I don't think tht she is taking new patients but Dr. Benzinger is WONDERFUL!!!!! They are at the West Aurora location. ###-###-####
Good luck,
K. :~)

P.S. I didn't like being a number at the "bigger" hospital. I have heard good things about Rush, all except that you feel like you're a number and it's not personal. I have heard EVERYTHING good at Mercy. I am in a playgroup and run into MANY women who have had their babies there and have nothing but AMAZING things to say about Mercy, as well as my experience.

Hi,
I just gave birth at Rush in June and really liked it. They do "room-in" which some people don't like. Personally, I liked the fact that anytime I woke up I could see my baby, or when it needed me, I could nurse him. The lactation staff was very helpful, the nurses for the most part were pretty good, and I loved the room service!

My OBGYN is a doctor whose office is right in the doctor's offices attached to the hospital - very convenient. Rush Copley Women's healthcare Associates: http://www.rushcopley.com/physician_sites/rcmg/womens_hea...

Dr. Alexander is one of five women, and they book you with each doctor at least once, so you get a chance to meet them all in case your doctor isn't on call when you go into labor. I really liked that, and in fact, liked all the doctors so much that I wouldn't have minded if any of them birthed my son.

My pediatrician is Dr. Lue, and so far he has been great. He has great creds, and got good reviews from my obgyn, and in general. I just googled him and came up with this:

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I've only had experience with the Rush Copley hospital... I had my daughter there 2 years ago, and it was generally a good experience. I felt a little rushed out after delivery because they were packed with patients, but I don't feel like they neglected me at all.

As far as pediatricians, we see Dr. Natalie Lambajian-Drummond at Dreyer Medical Clinic--she is AWESOME! Loved her from the first meeting!

My OB/GYN is now Dr. Judson Jones, whom I like very much also--but you'll have to see if he's accepting new patients. I used to have Dr. Joseph Lisac, and I LOVED him, but he's retiring at the end of this year and was not taking new OB patients (might want to see if he's only retiring from OB or GYN too)--he's great!

As far as Internal Medicine... my hubby and I currently see Dr. Steven Harnack, but we're not thrilled with him and will be switching eventually. I don't know who we're going to see yet though. Sorry, can't help with the other docs either. Good luck though!
