Rocking in High Chair

Does anyone have any idea as to how to stop a 1 year old from bouncing back and forth while she/he is in his/her high chair? We have chairs that strap on to existing chairs. I have tried everything I can think of and out of ideas. Just worried as they get older they'll tip back. Thanks everyone!

My solution was to put mine onto a padded step stool with a bar at the top that ends up falling behind the travel high chair's back. Seems to be the right height for them to sit at the table once they are old enough, and also climb up into the seat later too. But the A-shaped frame keeps it wider at the bottom and lessens any chance that they could actually tip back at all. The stool I use looks like this one: http://www.amazon.com/2-Step-Steel-Padded-Seat-Stool/dp/B... and I've got the Fisher Price travel booster seat that I use instead of the high chair: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Care-Booster-S...

Both my kids bounced around in their chairs. At one point I had my son in a booster on a chair, with another chair wedged behind him. I don't know that at their ages, you can do much to stop them, except keep telling them no. Eventually they will get it. Also, maybe make sure they are occupied with something while they are in the chair. If you have to stick them in give them a toy or something, or make sure they are only in to eat. When they start bouncing, take them out.

Good luck!

Hi, Mine did it too. I hold his hands and aski him not to do it . Look directly to his eyes. first he did it again. every time he repeat it. later he gave up. He also hit his head against the wall. shake his head rutinly. Just speak with him like an adult. they understands and do not laugh.

My daughter did this as well. We put the chair against the wall in our kitchen, so it was impossible to flip backwards. You couls also try one of those high chairs that clip onto the table.

You may be attached to the chair, but no chair is worth the risk, the twinkies will only get more active. I have used a large nylon belt on a lower chair to create a lower center of gravity, and they also make a lot of newer models that are lower. Maybe you could find one of those "trade it in shops"!
