Robotic Vaccum Cleaners?

This is a leap frog on the previous vacuuming question. Does anyone have or use one? Woudl you recommend it? Do you use them on hardwood floors? My dogs shed the equivalent of a small dog each and every day. It's a wonder that they aren't bald. I cannot keep up with it anymore - especially under the furniture!

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

We have had roomba, and the mint. We now have neato and scooba. We are fans of robot minions. We don't have carpeting, just a combo of hardwood and tile. We run the machines about 3+ times a week. Their canister is always full.

We are happy with the devices and with the customer service.

The robots work best if you keep your floors clear of stuff. They can be run as often as daily. You can sit on the sofa eating bon bons and all the while the robots clean your house.

on the down side, they have a long run time, they are a bit too loud to have on and watch tv or have a conversation. they don't do baseboards, and on occassion they get stuck.

Order from a reputable vendor, and return if you aren't totally pleased.

ONE LAST TIP- since dog hair is your trouble, consider the neato over the roomba. neato has rubber "bristles" which don't get cloged with hair. Roomba has traditional brush "bristles" which can and do get clogged up.

Good luck to you and yours,
F. B.

I have a Roomba, my mom has both Roomba and Scuba. They are pretty good but how much you can use them depends upon your floor plan and whether your rugs have fringe or not. They don't completely replace regular vacuuming but I like mine.

I had one and loved it. It broke after 14 months. Not worth it to me to buy another one because I expect a $250 vacuum to last a few years. Just make sure you buy it at Costco so if it breaks you can return it for a full refund.
They have their limitations, but at the end of they day they help you keep your floors cleaner than you otherwise would.

I know someone who has one and loves it (the roomba). She has a dog, and the only thing is that for it to work, she has to remember to empty the trap every day - it's quite small, and her dog sheds a lot too.

Her floors are carpet and tile.

I've had a Roomba for over a year now. I use it almost every day. For me, it is great. I'm a WAHM and I can run it while I'm working. My floors have kept very clean (all hardwood).

The noise is a drawback - sometimes I will set it for times when I'm out of the house for this reason. Also, it does not handle corners well. Obviously, it doesn't do stairs. So, basically, you can't throw out your regular vacuum. But, apart from those things, it has been great for me.
