I am a fertility challenged, almost 39 year old, and have been using Clomid for the last 6 cycles with no success and now our dr. has referred us to Huntington Reproductive Center. I was wondering if anyone has used them or if there is someone else in the area you would recommend. Also, what was your experiance with them? Success? (hopefully!) One more thing, anyone use acupuncture and who did you go to?

What can I do next?

A.,

I had success with Huntington as did a good friend of mine. She worked with the team in the S.F. Valley and I visited a doctor at their West L.A. office on Wilshire. She now has 3 kids and I have a beautiful 16 month old daughter.

I've heard nothing but great things...

For accupuncture the best I have found is Jason Starr with Berlin Wellness Group. He (as well as the rest of the group - chiropractic, massage, etc.) specializes in fertility, pre-natal, during pregnancy, and post-natal. He is really great -- conceived my son naturally after about six months of weekly accupuncture treatments with him. Call Berlin Wellness Group at ###-###-#### and good luck!

The BEST BEST BEST doc I've heard of is Dr Mark Surrey, at Southern California Reproductive Center. They have 5 offices actually, but I think closest one to you would be Beverly Hills. We are actually trying to conceive as well, we jsut had a consul with him and I really think the whole offic eis amazing. They are rated top ten in the nation. Good luck!

I used HRC, My Dr is John Wilcox. We did IVF three times to get my 2 yr old daughter and ivf once and IUI twice and am due with a son in 5 weeks. I liked them just fine...they are very good at what they do. I also tried accupuncture during one cycle..it was afbulous, turns you into jelly the first time you do it...very relaxing...I did not get pregnant on that cycle but I enjoyed the accupuncture. I am more than happy to chat with you over the phone about any questions or concerns...Infertility can be very rough. My name is S.

I recently started doing acupuncture. I have been TTC for 16 months, and have used fertility drugs. (I also have a 23 month old - sounds like we're in the same boat!) I wanted to try a more natural alternative to the drugs. Clomid did a number on my system. I did manage to get pregnant using Femara, but unfortunately had a miscarriage.

I LOVE the woman I found - she specializes in women's issues. Her name is Abigail Morgan (www.floatchinesemedicalarts.com/) She is located right off the 134 at the Central exit. I have never had a medical professional take so much time to get the whole picture of my health. She is trained in both western and eastern medicine, and used to work out of an OB/GYN office.

I strongly recommend her. She also turned me onto a book called "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. If you're open to a more Eastern philosophy, it's worth a read. The woman who wrote it suffered with infertility - I honestly teared up just reading the intro.

I have not been going long enough to have "success," but she did a treatment a couple days ago to encourage ovulation, so I'll know if it worked in the coming days...

Best of luck to you! You're in good company!

Hi, A.,

I have not used Huntington Reproductive Partners but have heard good things about them. I consulted with Dr. Sahakian of Pacific Fertility Center and went through IUI, IVF and ICSI with Reproductive Partners. I recommend Dr. Sahakian and the reproductive endocrinologists of Reproductive Partners.

I had a few acupuncturists while going through fertility treatment. My favorite was Leona Yeh, PhD, in Torrance. I did not have a good experience at Tao of Wellness in Santa Monica. They were expensive, the practitioner I was assigned kept me waiting in various offices for a very long time, told me to eat more of a couple types of fruit, and then told me with my FSH and E2 levels I would not have any children! Fortunately for me, this man's prediction did not come true. I don't know whether acupuncture helped me become pregnant or maintain my pregnancies as I experienced a couple of miscarriages while trying to create a child and naturally conceived a healthy baby when I was 41 without the help of any fertility treatment or acupuncture. Nonetheless, I'm glad that I had acupuncture because it helped me relax, which is not always easy to do when you are injecting yourself several times a day and gambling your life savings.

Good luck,
Lynne E

hi A.,
i did the same thing. after 6 months of it and no success i went to see dr. boostenfar at hrc in tarzana. i was then put on fertility shots. after my cycle i still only had one egg left. he told me i was probably not going to get pregnant the natural way , but he gave me a lot of hope and encouragement and really kept me positive. well to make a long story short i got pregnant a month later naturally. my point being that he was great and positive and really encouraged my husband and i to not give up hope. good luck.

I went to the Tao of Wellness in Santa Monica for fertility acupuncture. It's expensive and they don't take insurance but after a couple of years of trying, I became pregnant after a few weeks of treatment. Could be coincidental but it's worth a shot. They will put you on a program of acupunture, herbs, and diet restrictions. They are well known for helping with fertility issues. Check them out at www.taoofwellness.com. Good luck!

A., I was in your shoes once. I was 40 with a 2year old and wanted another child and had been trying for 6 months. I was put on clomid for 3 cycles and was told I would have to go on something strong if I didn't get pregnant with the last cycle. The doctor I had was not at that time with Huntington Reproductive but he went shortly after I had my daughter 8 years ago. Good luck to you.
