I've seen both Dr. Starks and Dr. Lyles and I would have to recommend Dr. Lyles. I was not happy with the care and concern that Dr. Starks and his office staff gave me. First off, he seemed to talk too fast-and it seemed as if he'd been doing it for so long that he probably gave the same speech to everyone...you know, like he could say it in his sleep. Secondly, he did not make sure I had a hysterosalphinogram done before he started me on all the drugs, etc,. He might have mentioned to me that I needed to have this done, but the whole process was new to me and I would have hoped he made sure that it was done (and he had the results of the procedure) before starting me on all of the meds. Thirdly, during another round of artificial insemination, when I asked what would happen next if this didn't work, he seemed to dismiss my concerns...to more or less just concentrate on this round. I was told that the if I had a risk of multiple pregnancies, they would talk to me about it. Well, I had 7 follicles that looked very promising of becoming eggs and all the consoling I received was "how do you feel about multiples?" in a joking way from one of the nurses. It was after I got home that realized that was it...I was not going to receive a phone call from Dr. Starks where he would explain what the best thing to do in a situation like that was. Finally, I was seeing Dr. Starks during the time of the Robert Courtney pharmacy scandal (he's the pharmacist that diluted chemo drugs for financial gain). Unfortunately for me, one of the drugs Dr. Starks recommended for me was Lupron (also used by cancer patients) and to have it filled by Courtney's pharmacy, which was downstairs from Stark's office. Needless to say, in my heart, I know that Lupron was diluted by Courntey (I had a period while on this medicine that was supposed to supress my periods...and I was having very few peroids a year to begin with....that's why I was seeing a R.E.). When the scandal broke, I called Dr. Stark's office and they didn't think that was an issue. It is documented by the FBI that he did dilute Lupron....so why didn't Starks even think it was a possibilty? Shortly afterwords, I decided to switch to Dr. Lyles and after one round of ICSI, we became pregnant and had a wonderful baby boy who is now five. Sure it helps that Dr Lyles didn't doubt that the Lupron was diluted by that sick man, and that I got pregnant while under his care. However, I really was disappointed in so many ways by Dr. Starks that I felt I should let you know.
