I have never been to one of these. Do most people give the couple gifts? If so, any ideas?? I can't think of anything.

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Small gift, I'd say....like a housewarming present. Wine, gift card, wine stopper & glass hangers, patio candles, & such.

We're planning a vow renewal and we've told anyone who asks not to give us gifts. We already have anything we would need, so we're not worried about that. I know that a few of our friends just told hubby that they would give us gift cards, or money. This still makes us a little uncomfortable as that is not why we're renewing our vows, but who am I to tell them what to do with their money.

HTH!

Most renewals specifically request "no gifts"... if not, try to come up with something that "after 25 years" (or however long) may be out-dated or ready for an update! Think "shower items", but scaled back...
- New set of stemware with a nice bottle of wine and a corkscrew
- Fancy "Rabbit" corkscrew with a noce bottle of wine
- New towels (always welcomed) with beautiful soaps
- Really nice (and neutral) serving piece- if you can find out their wedding china pattern, even better!
- New set of Christmas ornaments (still one of our favorite wedding gifts)... elegant hand-blown glass balls that we would NEVER have bought for ourselves!

Have fun and remember to be thoughtful in your gift giving and don't add "trinkets" to people's homes unless they are "trinket" people!

Something small & thoughtful? Maybe a gift basket you can put together with some candles, wine, chocolate. If you want to spend a little more, maybe the basket plus a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Kind of a "keep the fires burning" type of theme?

Maybe a bottle of wine?

never been to one either. I'd say if you do a gift, only something small.

I went to one once, and gave the couple money since they were also going on a trip. I was thinking the same thing you are now, before I went . I was glad we gave something, because it looked like the table at a wedding reception, full of gifts!! But, the vow renewal that I went to, they never really had a wedding per se, so they were actually doing this one up big since they didn't do it before. It was their 10 year anniversary also. A gift card would be nice too, or a nice picture frame. I'm sure they will take pictures.

I would only give wine if you know they drink it. Maybe cash or a $25 gift card to a restaurant.

We renewed our vows just about a year ago and requested no gifts. However - we still got a few things which were nice and thoughtful. i would say old photos in a nice frame (if you have any) or maybe a small gift card for dinner or something. keep it simple...
